  1. Wow - just got up and we've had at least three inches of snow in West Cambs. It's beautiful - much better than Monday. Now I've got to do my best please-don't-turn-to-rain dance, I'll be gutted if all this disappears in the next few hours
  2. Still snowing heavily here. Amazing. Let's see if we can squeeze another couple of hours worth to make up for the lack of snow yesterday
  3. Snow pepping up quite a bit here again. It's now been snowing since about 11am. Radar shows there's still some more to come. If it freezes tonight, it might stick around for a bit longer than the usual few hours.
  4. Still snowing here in West Cambs - been going for well over an hour
  5. In the middle of a heavy show shower at the moment, but it's proving difficulty to settle. The small layer we had this morning thawed out before this big shower hit so it's not settling very well. Typical
  6. Amazing how it settles in just a quick powder shower. It only lasted a couple of minutes but everywhere is covered. What's it going to be like in a really heavy shower!
  7. These showers seem to be fizzling out in the central belt across East Anglia - to the north and south, places are getting hammered, but through the middle there's been nothing. Had one flurry at lunchtime and nothing since. Hope it's not going to stay like this
  8. Just getting our first flurry of snow here in west Cambridgeshire. Sky is much darker now, so hopefully it'll get a bit heavier.
  9. Hi, TEITS - how do you think we'll do in Cambridgeshire today and tomorrow. I'm in the west of the county, so often too far west to catch anything through easterlies (which is ironic as I'm in East Anglia). My sister's in Peterborough and is hoping for a snowy birthday on Tuesday.
  10. Just to add - works perfectly in Safari as well. Looks like I'm the only Mac user in here
  11. Can't give you any specific details as I'm at work (temps, etc), but just had a massive hail storm here in Cambridge. Lasted for about 10mins. Wind was ferocious. Very exciting to watch
  12. Well. Just returned this morning from our week in New York. The weather was unbelievable - mid to high-70s all week. It even hit 80 on a couple of occasions. I think some records were broken last week. The humidity was really noticeable during the first half of the week. It made sight-seeing really draining, as we walked everywhere. The subway was a no-go area for us as it was like walking into an oven. How New Yorkers cope with that heat when it's really hot, god only knows. Thank god the carriages are air-conditioned. A big line of storms that brought tornadoes to some parts of the US on Thurs/Fri didn't really hit NYC. We had some light showers, while some parts of the state got 4-5 inches. Shame, really, as it looked for a while we were going to be in the firing line of some spectacular storms. When we left New Jersey at lunchtime yesterday we were basking in some gorgeous weather. Imagine the shock this morning when we landed at Heathrow and found ourselves scraping the ice of the windows!! Even as I'm typing now it's only reached 7 deg. Brrrr! All in all a fantastic trip, made even better by the unseasonably hot weather.
  13. Hi, White Fox - thanks for all these updates. As long as New York gets the rain before next Monday, I don't mind. I'll be more than happy with high teens and dry weather. Although these sudden torrential downpours you get do sound exciting (as long as I'm watching it from indoors!
  14. Wow! Low 20s will do me - perfect weather for sight-seeing. Can't believe it's going to hit 30 deg in October!
  15. Hi, White Fox My husband and I are coming to New York for the first time from 15-22 Oct, so it would be good if you could keep me posted as to how the weather's going to pan out over the next few weeks. I've no idea at this stage what clothes to take - I'm hoping the weather will still be quite nice, although I've heard New York weather can change really quickly!
  16. Had heavy rain here for about three hours. No thunder or lightning, though. Looks as though it'll be completely clear very soon as it pushes northwards. We seem to have escaped the worst of it. The main band has stayed west
  17. After a few rumbles of thunder at 5pm, nothing since. It is pouring down, though
  18. Raining steadily here and we're starting to get some rumbles of thunder. I can just about hear it over the blasted air con in the office.
  19. Dry as a bone here - the radar shows there has been rain over me for most of the morning, but not a drop has fallen from the sky yet. Strange, as Look East weather this morning was giving a severe weather warning. Is the rain not moving at all inland today?
  20. Very heavy snow here at the moment. Settling on the grass, bit not the paths. Wind is really driving it
  21. Snowing heavily here in west Cambs. Lovely big flakes in very string winds. Sadly, not settling
  22. snowfall picking up again now - bigger flakes. Nice little top-up. That band on the radar must have arrived.
  23. It started snowing here in West Cambs at about 6am and hasn't stopped yet. We haven't had huge flakes, but it's been light and steady. Now got about 3 inches. If the flakes had been bigger I'm sure we'd be buried under several feet. According to BBC weather, looks like another band of snow will hit us around tea time. Not looking forward to the freeze tonight, though
