  1. It's stopped here and the radar doesn't show any more coming through. It has snowed solidly for two hours with massive flakes, yet we haven't even had an inch. The sun will be out soon. If it's anything like the past few days, the snow will all be gone within half an hour because the sun was so warm. I just wish this winter would go out with a huge bang. This time last year I had nearly a foot of snow in my garden. Although this winter has been great for cold and we've had more snow on more days than I can remember, we haven't had any "significant" snowfall like Kent and the south experienced at Christmas. The most we had was an inch or so just before Christmas, which is better than nothing, but I'm getting greedy in my old age
  2. We've got 50p-sized flakes here - you can hardly see out the window, yet it's still not settling properly. Bl**dy typical!!
  3. Been snowing like mad here for about an hour. Not sure if it had been raining before, but it's not settling too thickly, despite the heavy precipitation. If it had been dry we'd have had over an inch by now. As it is, it's just a couple of cm or so.
  4. Just got up and it's snowing!! Light covering at the moment
  5. Well, the blob has has hit me - started off as hail pellets and has now turned into a complete white-out with massive flakes. It's only been snowing a few minutes but everything's covered already. Let's hope it doesn't thaw. Snowman - that NAE chart for Sunday looks tastier than my dinner!!
  6. A big blob that just passed through Leicester and left a dumping of snow will be hitting me shortly. Fingers' crossed it doesn't fizzle out too much
  7. As Kold mentioned, there's some showers starting to come through on the Cheshire Gap streamer. These are heading straight for us. Might get some showers out of this. Unfortunately, all the snow I had last night has just about melted
  8. Had about an inch of snow here in West Cambs overnight - phew! Thought we were going to miss out again, but it's amazing how sporadic the snowfall was. Currently tracing a big blob of snow that's going through Leicester and heading for me - if it doesn't fizzle out too much first
  9. Had a covering of snow when I got home but now it's pouring with rain again. Unbelieveable. I can't believe I'm going to miss out again on some decent snow!!
  10. My mum's reported heavy snow a mile from my home in Grafham in West Cambs
  11. As the rain is getting heavier, there's a few flake of snow getting in on the mix
  12. I'm actually working in Cambridge today, so more worried about whether it's going to be a nightmare getting home!!
  13. Well, looking at the radar - the first band should be hitting Cambridge very soon. It'll be interesting to see what's falling out of the sky. What do you reckon, Snowman?
  14. The problem is this front is moving quite rapidly, meaning it'll hit us at the most unfavourable time. Looks like we could see more rain than snow
  15. She must be a presenter because she's useless. She looks ridiculous as well. There must be an 80s vibe going round their office at the moment because Susie Fowler-Watt has gone all silk-shorts and shoulder pads as well. I wish proper meteorologists would present weather programmes - at least they get excited by weather extremes.
  16. Just looked out of the window and it's chucking down with snow. Where did that come from? I didn't think we'd be getting much more for the next few days. Looks like there's more to come from the radar, although they may be a few miles to the north. Edit - proper big snowflakes and everything's covered. That's two nights on the trot, although the few cms we had this morning had thawed by lunch today
  17. Been really lucky here in West Cambs because two or three really heavy showers have given us a complete covering. Grass and roads are covered with a few cms. Looks like there could be some more overnight - as long as they don't fizzle out when they get here. Fingers' crossed
  18. Just having a beefy shower in Cambridge at the moment. Couldn't see out of the window for a while. Looks like there are some good showers coming in off the North Sea. Shame the sun melts everything in between.
  19. Woke up here in West Cambs to a light covering of snow - it had settled on roads and paths as well, making the roads tricky this morning. It must have been very localised, though, because two miles down the road there was nothing.
  20. Snowing almost constantly here since 8am, but not settling. Varies between snow grains and big, wet flakes.
  21. Been snowing pretty much constantly in Cambridge since 8am. Not settling though. Varies from small snow grains to big wet flakes
