Ties in with the current NMM output and shows it sweeping in first from the SW late Wednesday afternoon. Not huge but 55mph + gusts are enough thank you.
I assume they are gusts rather than sustained?

Morning Lloyd.
You've got to go with the professionals opinion on health I'm afraid!
Now, from a complete non-professional at anything, here is what the charts think is in store for Sunday for the boot sale (at this time of year??)
Rain first thing
with maybe a short period without any late morning:
back again in the afternoon:
If you don't like that GFS overview, take the Met O one as they have no rain until early evening onwards
I guess you'll be out and about early for a boot sale, don't forget if your taking a gazebo or other form of wet weather protection, the winds will be cranking up through the day (as Saturday) and you could see gusts of 25 to 35 mph as the day wears on.
I hope you make a bob or two
Thanks Robin
Its actually my sale so not selling anything....Its on a car park at Leigh station so we go all year round.....or not depending on the weather lol

Morning all,
Well i got my MRI results back and they now want me to see a spinal surgeon (not impressed at all).....
On to the weather and can anyone (Robin) tell me how the weekend is looking in Essex (mainly Sunday in Leigh on sea) as my bootsale is on but it looks like it could be tricky if im reading things correctly....

Update 12 December: As of 9am, the red alert was indeed reduced to orange, and it will be reduced still further to yellow at midday. As things stand, that yellow alert will itself be lifted at midnight, leaving Friday with no alert at all. Fingers crossed.

I had the camera settings completely wrong, as I'd left them set up for a previous photo.
The one of the boats looks like an oil painting.
Ive just bought a Fuji SL300, my first bridge (only had point n shoot) so im still getting used to shutter speeds, ISO settings and F numbers.....quite complicated really....

Update from this site yesterday.
I seriously hope this all calms down. Im flying out to Adeje on Tuesday....does anyone have any ideas of when this is going return to "normal" ??
Update 11pm: The Government has changed its mind about opening schools tomorrow after Aemet extended the red alert for Tenerife for continued adverse weather conditions until 9am tomorrow (Thursday) morning, and the Tenerife Cabildo advised that it couldn’t guarantee the state of the roads in this island. Despite the late hour, the announcement has been made that schools will after all remain closed on Thursday, 12 December. In all other islands, schools will reopen tomorrow as the Government originally advised, but they will stay closed in Tenerife (official announcement HERE).

The Canary Islands are already seeing some of the effects of the Atlantic again this week and they are normally quite quiet at this time of year:

NOOOOOO Im flying out there on Tuesday!!! Oh I really hope its passed by then. Met office doesnt show anything significant for today or tomrrow so clearly thats wrong? Also Netweather doesnt show anything other than showers....

Tell me about it Robin. Im going to Tenerife on Tuesday. I seriously hope its better by then.....
Ive been looking at the Meto for that area and cant find anything that suggests these kind of storms. they are on Red alert

Really foggy when i left home at 6, clearing now im in London....
Looks like there will be some changes next week. Im specifically concerned about Tuesday as it looks like a low will be heading our way. I seriously hope that its not bad as im meant to be flying off on Holiday from Luton on Tuesday morning.....If this affects my first holiday in blooming years, i will not be best pleased....(Praying)

I think the best way to simplify things is - increasingly unsettled, becoming mild/very mild for a time, then turning a bit colder later...but nothing in the way of proper cold as far ahead as we can reliably look.
Which is about a week then eh?

- Sloe gin, sloe vodka, blackberry brandy and blackberry rum all filtered, bended and bottled
- External Christmas lights and snowflake laser display set up (albeit straining the local substation and dimming all the neighbours main lights on initiation)
- Stocks of Cheesy Footballs procured
- Christmas shopping done (I'm a bloke, petrol station shops are open way into the night on Christmas eve......)
Wot no Twigletts? Come on Robin, these are the essentials we are talking about lol.....I guess you either love em or hate em.

Morning all,
Thanks to Paul for posting those pics of my hometown. My dad said he stayed up to watch the water breach the (hmm I cant really call it a sea wall)....The slope leading up to the prom. Thankfully it didnt seem to cause too much in the way of damage.
Today looks much quieter and the coming weeks look pretty much the same....
On a seperate note, im trying to find a forecast for Tenerife for my hols. I know NW have the holiday section but if anyone knows, I would be interested to know if they take the island as a whole (as the north and south of the island have such different weather) ......Im going to the south so wanted to find the specific forecast for that area of the island....
Cheers and happy POETS day to those who can take advantage of it x

The 2am High Tide could be the one that overtops onto the roads along the SOS Seafront, this does not co-inside with the Strongest winds but the funnelling effect and the fact the Thames Barrier will still be closed could play a major part, probably best viewed from the Cliffs Pavillion if anyone knows the area, the defences near the Casino (On Stilts) are as someone else pointed out non-existant so the beach could end up on the road
Might take a trek down there in the early hours but not expecting much to happen here like it is likely to do further up the essex coast near Jaywick for example.

I know it very well. My mum and dad live above mama mia so they should have a good view of anything coming over the top.

It'll be very high, but won't have the surge element.
Hi Steve, Why wont SOS be affected by the surge? Also with the Thames barrier being closed this usually makes the tide in Westcliff a lot higher (Im originally from WOS and my parents still live there. Right on the seafront) Thankfully they are in a 1st floor flat so im not worried about them but do you think the tide will burst over the (non existent) defence?

Morning all,
Chilly and frosty start with a beauty of a sun rise....so nice to see it again. Take care out there in the E of our region
-
Morning all,
Another grey morning with drizzle incoming. Models look like they might show summit interesting in 10-15 days time, but as ever we will see....Jeez I hope so, I need an injection of something interesting......however, I really dont want a major snowfall around the 17th just before I jet off....which of course, it now will lol
Have a good day all x

Another beautiful winters day, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, the crisp white snow on the ground and the early mist clearing to leave a fine and sunny day....and then I woke up to see the grey, boring, and cr*p weather we are getting used to....
I really need to get myself a SAD light.....
