  1. Thanks a slight covering would do fine. My other half has just Skyped her brother in Munich thick snow on the ground there....soooo jealous
  2. Hi Ian any chance Bristol may be in the yellow snow warning area or is it still likely Bath/Wilts will be effected ?
  3. The Problem with the model discussion thread is that there are too many egos in there trying to impress everybody with fancy weather terminology. When these people then write "Epic run" "No way back for cold from here" everybody including me gets taken in with the hype. The model output definitely needs to be more balanced. I will miss Ian F's posts.
  4. Oops just looked at his forecast again and I misquoted him he said we need low pressure to arrive from the SW to get some snow but he said no sign of it yet.
  5. Great TV forecast by Ian ferguson on our BBC local news just. By next Tuesday possible low pressure heading up from the SW with snow but he did say some way off.
  6. I'm always sceptical of Easterlies especially for us in the West. I grew up in the West Midlands in the 70's and 80's and remember many times whilst the West Midlands stayed dry the East Midlands got huge dumps of snow. It would be such a waste to have such a cold spell but for it to stay dry
  7. Hi Ian you were such a tease at the end of your broadcast regarding December prospects. When are you going to spill the beans on your thoughts?
  8. Realistic assessment. I think we have all been chasing shadows the last .few days. Damn those models.
  9. Not sure why the Doom and gloom latest BBC1 forecast @ 6:30pm shows snow all over Bristol and surrounding area 5-10cm. Why the long faces? :acute:
  10. The 6z NAE seems to indicate quite a big shift east. If this trend continous then everywhere from London westwards would end up disappointed. Still plenty of time for change
  11. Who said that? May well be right but I would class that as a non event. I have a feeling this will get more interesting as the system moves in. Expect the unexpected. This system will start to go further west within 12 hours of it arriving. Just a hunch though
  12. Raining in BS6. BBC Points West forcasting rain apart from highest hills. Not surprised as potential for snow has been decreasing all day
  13. Anyone getting the feeling this will be a total non event ? Mixed reports coming from the Welsh thread looks like the snow will be very hit and miss. I was going to do an early hours stay up but don't think I will bother now
  14. Looks GAME OVER for all areas south of Glos according to latest Met Office warnings for South West. All yellow warnings have been removed
  15. Models are suggesting it will turn colder again by the weekend with the prospect of some disruptive snow for the West Country. No sign of any mild westher
  16. BBC Radio 2 have just forecast 5-10cm Snow for West Country and South Midlands tonight
  17. New Metoffice warnings just out and not good for the South West/ West Country at the moment. Hope things change
  18. Metoffice now showing RED for Bristol/Bath area and orange in Somerset
  19. That is simply not true. All models point to a mostly dry week with snow flurries in the East. If the Met Office were expecting any disruptive snow next week they would have issued weather watches already.
  20. ???? Do you mean the Northerly thats likely to bring widespread snow for Bristol on Friday ? Forget Easterly's they rarely deliver for the West (we got lucky with the last Easterly)
  21. Well Ian has updated his thoughts on his blog this evening re tommorrow and it is not really worth watching anymore. Unless there is a HUGE upgrade later or tommorrow morning this Snow Event has died on it's legs for here already and for many areas of the South West. Anybody know when the next cold spell will arrive ?
  22. Are things changing yet again. Bristol back in danger zone ? 12z NAE and GFS both shift the heaviest distribution of snowfall a little further east across southern England, with W london and parts of the SE coming under more threat for heavy snowfall especially looking at GFS ... though the general theme is for central southern England, S Midlands, SE Wales, parts of SW England and parts of SE England to see some significant falls of 30cm+ in places, if I were a betting man, I would put my money on the largest accumulations over Salisbury plain, Cotswolds and the Chilterns by 12z tomorrow. Anyway, the 12z GFS and NAE side by side for 00z/06z/12z Wednesday:
