Look in the North Sea big old blob coming in. Give it a hour or so to see if it can produce anything. http://www.meteox.co...&soort=loop1uur Edited by SN0WM4N, 12 minutes ago. That's the one I was referring to about off the coast of Holland earlier. Think you might be lucky if it clips Kent but could be wrong. -

Thanks John. I know you have recently been in a similar place and we have had to wait 4 weeks for the funeral and still got 2 weeks to go so it is really all going very slowly. Just want it to warm up a bit. -

Sorry to hear that Terry, from a former Lee resident to a current one. Hopefully we'll have some warmer weather by then and the funeral goes as well as can be expected. Regards, Tom. Edited by TomSE20, 4 minutes ago. Thanks Tom and I can tell you Lee is just as exciting as always and still freezing. -

I have a family funeral on 11th April and its a burial so I was banking on it being somewhat warmer. It will be a bad, and sad, enough day already so I don't need any more cold to ruin it thank you. -

Well there's nothing else around with moisture so that's something to keep an eye on just to keep us busy and get the straws out again! -

Is any of that off of Holland likely to clip coastal Kent or inland or just miss altogether? -

As I understand it a tortoise in hibernation will dig down even deeper if it gets colder so I presume this year they have had plenty of practice. This is one reason they should not be kept in a shallow box or similar in a garage or out house with a concrete floor as they will try to dig deeper but will exhaust themselves in doing so. Alternatively, they could come down the pub with me! -

I was going to drive down down to Whitstable later and have a walk by the sea but it doesn't seem like a good idea now with that easterly wind and freezing temps. I'll still go though.- 833 replies

South East & East Anglia Regional Discussion 23rd March 2013

Thanks for explaining that and I have no points so I am happily at the bottom of the league so far. This was issues by the MO - Dates Warning Chief Forecaster's assessment Weather Impact Matrix Issued at: 0737 on Sat 23 Mar 2013 Valid from: 0005 on Sat 23 Mar 2013 Valid to: 2359 on Sat 23 Mar 2013 A slow-moving band of rain, sleet and snow will continue to affect many central parts of the UK during Saturday. Further significant snow accumulations are likely on hills, with continued drifting and blizzard conditions in the strong southeasterly winds. At lower levels, some areas could see 5-10 cm of snow, though details on locations most at risk remains very uncertain at this stage. The public should be aware of the continued risk of significant disruption. This updates the warning issued earlier on Friday, reflecting the increased likelihood of accumulations of 2-5 cm of snow on higher ground around London and Kent during Saturday, and some temporary accumulations of 1-2 cm at low-levels. A frontal system remains slow-moving across central and northwestern parts of the UK during Saturday, again giving some significant snowfall, particularly across high ground. The risk of disruptive snowfall looks to spread further south and east across England than on Friday, though in these areas conditions will be more marginal for snow, with perhaps rain and sleet becoming more prevalent at times. Could it happen here ? From BBC News Tanks could be seen along with other tracked military vehicles Tanks have been deployed to reach snowbound motorists in Hungary as cold weather causes transport chaos across eastern Europe. T-72 battle tanks trundled along icy roads, while thousands of people waited in cars on the M1 motorway from Budapest to Vienna. Many had been stuck on the road since Thursday evening. In Bulgaria, a woman was killed when high winds brought down scaffolding in the town of Gabrovo. Outside Hungary Heavy snow paralysed parts of south-eastern Poland, where police were redirecting heavy lorries for fear they would get stuck At least 19,000 households were left without power in eastern Slovakia after high winds damaged the grid and lorries backed up on a road- 795 replies
