Was always looking like a fairly benign cold snap anyway and in my entirely non scientific prediction the rest of Dec will be wet ,mild and generally hideous - it's always the way here

I'll just remind you that 17 people were killed by Eunice, and that was with a lot of people not going out. There's a statistical chance that if we all went out in big storms, more people would die for no reason other than trying to be brave or strong, trying to Impress, instead of authentic and smart.
17 was for the whole of Europe in case anyone assumed it was for UK only

Certainly a winter for me that won't ever be remembered (there are a lot of those) - no redeeming periods apart from some pleasant frosty days - 1.5/10
-
Please let April be better than this dismal month - important stuff coming up - Beer fest, Golf weekend and then Easter !

Since when has the BBC app been able to successfully predict anything more than 3 hours ahead??
Well obviously not but i think the general trend is correct for the foreseeable

Did the snow come 24 hours earlier than forecast? I'm sure it was due for tonight, yet we did get a bit (a thin covering) last night.
The Met Office long term is truly the stuff from hell. Please tell me that won't come true. Vile, dismal, soul-destroying, low-jetstream southwesterly grot. We need the joys of spring, not endless rain and gloom. If that comes off, March 2023 will be by far the worst March of my lifetime, and we'll be paying for 6 hours of slight slow with 30 days of weather hell.
Yeah its a vile long term down here - the forecast was for heavy snow this eve but that changed quickly- just heavy rain now

Will get at least one pleasant enough dog walk in the snow at lunchtime before the rain kicks in - looks a grim next 10 days coming up for here anyway

Well what does the last frame show , the southern counties are all white
Thats for 19:00 - the warnings start at midnight tonight so just a tad early i think

someone posted MetOffice screen grabs on the Mad thread showing mostly rain in the south tomorrow - no wonder people are confused. I'll stick with my own prediction of bit of snow/sleet and rain - think that covers it

So after all those exciting snow laden charts being posted from all of 14+days ago - come t24 its all turning into a vile few days down here of cold with the added bonus of sleet/rain, the north may get some transient snow for a day. Thankfully I never believed one pixel of them

So after 100 pages on the other thread of seeing epic snow charts for the forthcoming week, i may just squeeze a quick dog walk with some falling snow. Can't wait

I see the 10 day obsession is a alive and well on the other thread - barely a mention of early next week for the incoming severe sleet

In March what do you expect?
When any showers come along, with -8 uppers and low thicknesses, temperatures will fall away to freezing as the upper air is dragged towards the surface. In any frontal snowfall, temperatures would probably hover around freezing.
Very true if we do get any sustained snow but down south hmm well that's unlikely

Expectations far too high, people just looking at charts without taking into account by 168 hrs we will heading into week 2 March...Met have me for 8 c next Tuesday as the big freeze hits!
yep - too much checking 850's and salivating over -8's rather than ground level - avg still looking around 5c London anyway

Yep dry and some sun - will do for me. The chance of some Northerly (luckily no more ) bringing cold winds and rain for down here would be horrific
