Good thing about this weather is that the mud has frozen over so less time cleaning the dog post walks

The ground is so sodden and flooded round here any snow which may appear next week will be next to useless if you want anything settling and with an avg temp of around 4/5c - forget it.
Next stop Feb

10 days of this weather will be quite enough thanks - already had enough of freezing early morning dog walks, scraping car windows etc. Now a blizzard or 2 - that would be fun. Hopefully a reset next weekend and on to the next chase

Not sure why they are cheering on the lack of frontal snow on the mad thread
yep - checked the 6z - very uninspiring so expected some doom and gloom in the mod thread but no lots of hyper ventilating- each to their own i guess

I get bewildered by the excitement on the model thread followed by the BBC app and TV forecast showing nothing but a bit of frost and sunshine in the vast majority of the country. One group or t'other is in for egg on their collective face.
to be fair to the MOD thread - no one is suggesting and nor do the models show much snow this week - just a bit chilly - it's next week where fun and games could start and of course thats way too early for the BEEB or metoffice to comment on

Who remember the theme of this thread five months ago when it was "How can anyone appreciate thy heat"? Well now it's my turn.. how can anyone look forward to freezing nights and those dreadful frozen mornings? Not a great weather outlook for those wanting to keep their gas bills down or the homeless folk. And everyone spreading their germs just in time for seasons greetings...I hope all those chasing days of below zero uppers are prepared for spending Christmas with a cold and sore throat caught during the Christmas rush !

So from a dead Atlantic for the foreseeable and a robust block to the first low appearing and the block being pushed aside with ease. Hilarious really

Personally a storm that won’t be remembered even tho we were in the mid red zone - not notably more windy than a standard winter storm - no trees down in the village and roads clear all day. Only notable feature is an ongoing power cut

Shows the current situ pretty well

I think there is a difference between expressing interest in a preferred outcome and ramping. By all means if a model shows snow like the GFS Op did for 3 runs yesterday, say it. I did. But point out the GEFS were never so bullish. EPS and ECM Op not at all. Don't start disparaging models you praised a week ago, etc.
yeah but there were plenty of non bullish posts as well so take your pick - maybe posts can be moderated to remove excessive "!!!!!!!!" though

Lol, are you sure? There’s thousands of posts as evidence ramping up cold weather when it was never in a reliable time frame. In fact it’s quite possibly the most excessive and continuous model ramping ever seen. I’m sure plenty of others would agree too.
Not sure why people have a problem with guys ramping up weather on a weather forum - it's a hobby (for most), if you want something more balanced just check the Met outlook

The bbc weather app has always been showing crud weather for the last 10 days , maybe i'll just stick to that in future

I ignore most people posting in the thread but sometimes (well okay, all the time) its better to just look at the outputs yourself. GFS this morning shows a snow event beginning the very early hours of boxing day.
But it has very poor support on the ensembles. I'll let the model whisperers guess the rest.

actually he said "a trend towards colder conditions next week" but that's not surprising as models clearly show that
