  1. I’m still not under a weather warning so I’m still hopeful a small dusting in the wee small hours. Those in the east look like doing well in places. Just hope all the ingredients fall into place. The system has started pivoting. While looking at the Netweather Radar press ‘Anim On’ and then compare the travel of the precipitation to when you hit ‘Anim Off’. The screenshots are for when I did it but when you watch it in motion you can see the progression much clearer. Fingers crossed @101_North will still be posting at 5am.
  2. We are not releasing that one I'm afraid. If I speak to the guys packing your copy I'll tell them to put yours to the top of the list!
  3. Looks like you are not far away from me. If I’m correct that is Netherlee post office in the photo. Just about to pack up some online orders and head there.
  4. Wasn’t expecting anything after a minging day here yesterday. Don’t this the motorbike will be used today!
  5. I probably say this every year. Outside of all the major predicted snowfall events here I prefer the surprise ones. Probably because the Met Office warnings never quite deliver. I’ve no idea what will happen tomorrow but I would feel more confident if they removed the warning for here!
  6. @Stormeh The last photo is spectacular. Is that the Belgray Reservoir? If so I pass through there on the motorbike and never stop. I'm usually heading for the backroad between Neilston & Stewarton. That road is a rollecoaster & so much fun once you get to know it.
  7. Thanks! It was taken from my bedroom window. We can see quite a way north. Took this one of mountains beyond Ben Lomond (to the right of it) but not sure which one it is. Any ideas?
  8. Glorious winters day. Nice to see the snow hanging on the trees as opposed to melting not long after falling. Walked down to Shawlands for a cold doorstep visit with my sister. Great photos from everyone today. Hope there a few more days like this before spring kicks in!
  9. I’ve got one eye on CNN & the other on the radar. JFC.
  10. Lowry looking scene you captured there on the pond. My sister walks her dog there everyday and she described it as ‘festival like’. There was an ice cream van & ambulance there earlier this afternoon.
  11. You can walk from Linn Park to Stamperland. Houses near the river mean you have to walk through a bit of suburbia. You can continue a bit more of the river walk as there is a path at the back of the Overlee playing fields which takes you under the railway line and you come out near Sheddens roundabout.
  12. First walk of 2021. Stayed local and went to the River Cart, which is a 5 minute walk from our front door and then onto Linn Park. Wouldn’t have been possible without the slip on crampons on our boots. It was extremely icy out there.
  13. Netweather radar says sleet just now but lamp post says snow. Temperature is creepy up slowly though...
  14. Remember that day well. I was following the Scottish thread and the model thread discussion thread on Sunday day before the big day. It was so well documentated that something was afoot. The mainstream weather forecasts weren't painting anything as bad. I was woken up at 8am by a call from a band manager as his band were about to travel from Glasgow to Edinburgh Airport to Berlin for a gig. At that point there were snow reports from everywhere but it was sleety (I think we were in a dreaded warm sector) in Clarkston. In a very short time during the phone call it turned to heavy snow. The manager asked if I thought the band should travel from Glasgow to Edinburgh Airport. I said no. They did and ended up stuck in a taxi on the M8 motorway for 10 hours. Thankfully the taxi driver turned off the meter! Didn't make it into work as I cycle so the wife & I went to the local pub. Here she is going down our outside stairs 'crab style'. The other is photo is taken behind Clarkston library. Last photo is of my covered up motorbike which I didn't use for quite a while.
  15. Despite living in Glasgow we can walk for 25 minutes and be in the countryside. Started walking at 9am and got home by 11am. The frost had actually intensified by then and there was some amazing ‘fern frosts’ on cars. Outside now it is quite frosty. Looks like perfect conditions for black ice. Be careful if you are out early tomorrow!
  16. Strange day. Weather has been all over the place. Very wet & windy but warm & windy as well. Managed to go for a walk while warm & windy. Went to Cathcart Cemetery for a walk as it is Halloween. Came across a tree consuming a gravestone. Seemed apt. Casualties today. Two wheelie bins, bird feeder, trampoline, large tree, which landed on a BMW. Thankfully not ours.
  17. The wife & I have been ‘Covid Nesting’ since summer. Top of my expensive wish list* which hasn’t happened is a log burner. @Mair Snaw you are a lucky man. New couch, rug, curtains, Sonos Move & infrared heater for the decking. My friend who is a doctor in Manchester called the 2nd wave back in July and he has been bang on. Think what you can do to make the next 6 months better for you, friends & family. Don’t procrastinate! *Yamaha Tenere 700
  18. I’d say it has been a standard wet day here in the west. The rain has been moderate but never heavy since this morning. Not much in the way of wind. That said the rain has been constant. I’ve now got this song looping in my head as I look at the rainfall radar over Scotland. Aimee Mann - Wise Up (It’s Not Going To Stop)
  19. After a very nice week we had a mainly cloudy day. Was getting quite fond of the cloudy starts and sunny endings. I was inside anyway watching the Moto GP so wasn’t missing any sun on the decking. Watched a horrendous crash in the Moto 2 race. Rider hurt but is ok. Thought that was the worst one I had ever seen but no. Within an hour one in the main race was worse. Both riders involved eventually walked away so are lucky. It is what happens to their bikes after the crash that is nuts. Thankfully they are ok but it was so close to being so much worse. I’ve been a motorbike rider for quite a few years and I know others on the forum are as well. Riding a motorbike is dangerous I know but these guys take it to the limits and beyond. I also cycle a lot and that is more dangerous than the motorbike. https://www.espn.co.uk/motogp/story/_/id/29673232/morbidelli-zarco-involved-huge-crash-austrian-gp
  20. Some nuts photos on Twitter. This is my favourite nuts one. Not sure who took the photo but it will be well used by the morning! Edit! Photo by @KitCarruthers. I was too busy looking at what looked like Edinburgh under attack.
  21. Was out about 15 minutes ago and there was constant flashes. It looks like the strikes are bouncing off the higher based clouds and not the lower which makes sense. Prefer this storm to the one that leaves my garage in ankle deep water. Hope the damage is minimal @101_North
  22. Playlist for rain & storms. Apologies if you don't use Spotify! spotify:playlist:3K4qaAk4bxO78FNeEshqZa Marie likes the challenge of being thrown a subject and forming a playlist. The most random one was 'Animal Husbandry'. It was delivered.
  23. Same here. Got much darker in the last 5 minutes.
  24. The storm did produce a few flashes and bangs which was a nice way to end a day in the garden. Coming in for thunder & lightning is much better than just plain rain.️? My wife has been DJing via Spotify with storm & rain songs which has been entertaining. Might ask her to compile it on a playlist and send it to you for those on Spotify. First photo is the birds waiting for us to depart the garden so they can access the feeders. Last photo is of the storm clearing. It looks like the lights have been turned back on here.
  25. Possibly heading to the Clarkston/Croftfoot area.️
