I know where you are going wrong. You should play Mogwai's track 'Mogwai Fear Satan'. That is a beast of track. No need for the whole album. If you are seasonal then you could play the track 'Like Herod'. I've seen a cat jump vertically from sleep when the guitars kick and after a quiet lull. This was not intentional! It was been a 'normal' windy day here. Got lively on occasion and peaked about 3pm but nothing out of the ordinary. Our ginger tom Beaker passed away a few months ago due to cancer at only 4 years old.The Xmas present my wife & I have got for each other is a rescue cat called Luka. Best Xmas present ever. He seems to be settling in quite well. It will be nice to have my rain alarm back as Beaker used to punch his cat flap on repeat in disgust!

I was wondering why my dad was off to Bo'ness tomorrow for a Santa themed day with the grandchildren (not ours!) and was encouraging me to have a business meeting as way of wriggling out of it. I declined. If you see a silver fox (70 years old on Xmas Eve) who looks like John Inman (ask someone who watched tv in the late 70's early 80's) and a combination of Steve Martin then say hello!

I remember that weekend quite well as I was celebrating my 1st wedding anniversary. Stayed at the Dunkeld Hilton on Friday 31st of January & Saturday 1st of February. No snow at all when we left Glasgow (as usual) but there was light flakes blowing in the wind when we stopped in Stirling for lunch with our niece. In the evening as it got dark the light snow carpeted all surfaces in Dunkeld and it was very picturesque. Saturdays walk by the Tay was lovely with everything white and crisp. Not your usual wet snow. The other thing I remember happening that weekend was the Space Shuttle Columbia crashing on re-entry to earth. Back in Glasgow on the Sunday afternoon and of course there was no snow. However as it got darker the snow started and we ended up with around 2 or 3 inches of snow which hung around until the middle of the week. Not as spectacular as a foot up in Inverness but nice to. Not sure if anyone can can confirm this with charts. Best get back to work as this is my last day in the office!

The photos were taken about 2.30. It was very clear in Largs and along the west coast. The cloud increased notably as I headed east out of Greenock. I do like the coastal road as sometimes while you can actually forget you are in Scotland and only 40 miles from home. Next place I want to visit in Glen Devon. Drove through there once at is was very scenic. Especially the first part where you come off the A9 onto the A823. Feel free to suggest any stunning roads I should check while we have this lovely dry weather!

Largs felt summer like today. Went through there today on the motorbike. Took the Old Largs Road to Greenock instead of the coastal road which I love. I wasn't disappointed. Kept my speed down as it was often single track and the road is popular with cyclists & sheep. First photo of is of Loch Thom and the second is in the descent into Greenock looking north.

Anyone else seeing strange lights to the north? This is looking towards Glasgow City centre. Never seen anything light up the sky like this in the 15 years I've been here. It is also noticeable towards the Kilpatrick Hills to the west of the city. Cloud cover seems thin so is there a chance this is the Northern Lights?

Back from a rather cold but very enjoyable first outing of 2016 on the motorbike. Went around and over the Campsies and stopped for the odd photo and to defrost my fingers. The roads were very dry and heavily salted and that is why the tyres are not black! Shameless plug alert... I drive vans, cars, motorbikes & cycle to work all year round and I clock up 2000+ on the bike. I regularly witness terrible driving from each mode of transport. It isn't what the person is driving/cycling it is how they are as a person when they get on the road. When cycling the thing that really gets my goat/mongoose (more than someone not seeing me and pulling out) is when I'm cycling up to a junction at a minimum of 15mph a vehicle accelerates to pass me to turn left within 50 feet of the junction to turn left. It then has to slow down so much that I have to brake in order not to get taken out as it turns the corner. This is a weather forum of sorts isn't it? Living in Glasgow I've noticed it rains a lot.

Ha ha! Nice to hear that still has the desired effect. Coming back from the Connect Music Festival in 2007 my wife was driving on the A82 past Loch Lomond and the driver behind just sat feet from us and didn't even try and overtake. Just after Dumbarton they were pulled over by the police and I hope they threw the book at them!

I've mentioned this before but I think it is worth bringing up again. When I'm getting tailgated I like to switch on the fog lights and accelerate at the same time. Watch them slam on the brakes as you resume a safe distance from them. They get the message.

I know it is way less busy on the roads than usual but there are still a lot of cars on the road on the live cameras I've looked at. Even as it is now I personally wouldn't risk it unless it was necessary. That said winter tyres can make big difference if those cars have them then fair play. If I was a resident of Washington then I would have stocked up well in advance and would be currently sitting at home with a beer and my eyes on the nearest lamppost.

I'd have loved the bbc forecast to come off and the curtains would be currently open with me looking at the snow falling. It isn't but I'm happy for those who have an unexpected covering. I'm actually enjoying the unpredictable nature of this winter. That said I'm looking forward to future unpredicted snowfalls in Glasgow. Really enjoyed a dry weekend. Doesn't look like it will continue for my cycle to work in the coming week.Oh Well. Went for a walk down Linn Park which is on our doorstep. Some Mammatus clouds heading east after the rain cleared through Glasgow. I know the windows need washed! Looking forward to some dry & cold weather this weekend. It will make a pleasant change.

I don't think I will be troubled by snow for my commute from the east end to the southside this evening. I've got a good view from the office and the showers that have made it through have been skirting the top of the Cathkin Braes and hitting East Kilbride before heading into South Lanarkshire. The photo is of one making its way at 16.30. The back end of the of the cloud seems to be sporting an angry pig face!

Just went out to make sure the motorbike is well secured to its ground anchor. Thankfully it is positioned facing east to west so shouldn't take the full brunt of the wind. Disabled the motion sensor alarm as it would be going off all night. Though the wind might get that loud it could easily drown out 110 decibels!

Wild in Glasgow at the moment. Very gusty with rain lashing against our SW facing windows. Looking forward to my cycle home from work... Hoping that it is less eventful than my cycle in. Almost got taken out by a 4x4 at a roundabout, then got chased by 2 different dogs at different points, both called Billy.

Here is the front that just went through Glasgow about 15 minutes ago. Blinding winter sunshine to near darkness in a matter of minutes. Managed to get it when it was half n half.
