  1. Google for open2300, it's an open source suite of command line programs for manipulating WS23** weather stations. Not sure if you could find a binary for mac osx or if you would need to compile it, but if you can get it installed you can set up a cronjob to automatically collect data at predefined intervals.

I use this on a Pentium 3 running linux, collecting data every 5minutes.

Really appreciate the reply, honestly! But if you could dumb it down slightly, I'd be more appreciative! No idea what a cronjob is or how to find a binary (whatever that is) for a mac...

It;s a cross I've been carrying all my life!!! I am a tecnophobe!

  2. Quick question for you techies out there...

I just got my WS-2350, but alas, just discovered the software and USB driver will not work with my mac (Mac OS X, 2.4 Ghz Intel). I am disgusted with myself for spending this money, yet not finding out that it won't run with mac!!!

So. Anyone out there help with some software links? I tried WeatherD, but for some reason, that won't load, (despite repeated attempts, in frustration!). My eyes are square now from googling and answer to this!

    All help appreciated.

  3. -2.4 and dropping fast, and foggy here. Crispy yet foggy. Weird night...I was out the back a few minutes ago, and got treated to a meteor shower of sorts.. Very unusual to see one in the suburbs of Dublin due to light pollution. My anemometer hasn't budged in an hour and a half!

Love this weather, but dreading my February gas bill!

    *Edit* Now -2.6.

Plus, some excitement developing on the models thread about some easterlies coming from Russia about 10 days from now... Sneachta heaven comes back into play (small percentage, but still hope!)

  4. I spend a bit of time up near the airport, and in late December, when it was -1 at my house 2 miles away, it was -6 at the airport according to my car (HARDLY SCIENTIFIC!!!)... I think it's just that it's on higher ground than the surrounding area, and in the middle of a large flat plain (plane? No pun intended!) so more exposed? All I know is the evenings I spend near the airport are most likely the coldest of my week!

Disappointed with tonight's charts too... Has anyone any links to predictive charts for February yet?? Let's call it clutching at straws!
