  1. Very true SF10. Dublin having the greater population, means it also has the greater amount of "sob" stories, so gets more coverage...

I work in a public service that can get drafted in to help with floods and have done for 15 years now... I have yet to see non coastal floods as bad as these in those years... Thank God I'm not working tonight for it! acute.gif

    *Fire lit*

Temperature is now down to 8.1 and falling, so cloud would appear to be breaking up overhead now...

  2. Rain total in Dublin (IMBY) for last 24 hours, is a whopping 82mm.

Worst flooding I can remember in my adult life, and I don't mean coastal flooding. There are houses with shores outside them on lower levels with fountains gushing up outside them. A neighbour down the road is under 4 foot of water. Poor fella.

Took me 3 hours to drive 3 miles earlier. Crazy amount in 24 hours, topped up on the 25 or so mm we got yesterday afternoon.

  3. Working in town last night, and although the high tide was just 3.9 mtrs, the liffey was perilously close to the bottom of the boardwalk.

I saw on the way home this morning that the Dublin city council had their drainage divisions out in force. Could be a rough day ahead, and I'll be watching the radar with interest! Especially with a higher tide today (due at 10.30, yet at 9.15, the liffey was still flowing outwards!!! Lots of water so!)

  4. doesn't look the may west for the rest of october.

met eireann have a weather warning for flooding tonight.

Bloody sodden ground anyway. WIth all this rain, the low pressure too, it'll be interesting when the tides come in alright for coastal towns...

22.4 mm rain in 24 hours here. Kerry and the west coast had a large amount of rain already yesterday...
