I’m really not convinced of any snow west of the M6 today, even though the Metoffice have upgraded my town to 60% risk at lunch time. The energy is just being sapped.

-4.8c at 7am here.

Hi mate do you have any snow on the ground?
There was a dusting overnight, and I mean a dusting, the snow from yesterday is mostly gone except in areas where no sun got to it. Will be interesting to see if it melts today in the sun or not. It’s completely clear here and not a breath of wind. It was windier yesterday afternoon.

Morning. Expecting a cold, clear, crisp day today!

Yep I’m right. Dying before getting to the western part of the M60.

Apps are showing no snow here so I don’t think those showers will make it over.
-
So many showers to the east. Do you not think their trajectory SW wasn’t forecast?
-
The one north of the blob in Manchester is breaking up.

yep, are the any more organised features forecast? Showers are going to cut it.
It doesn’t look like it from the BBC forecast I just saw, just showers piling into the NE mainly, with scattered showers elsewhere
-
Yep, the shower died. If that continues then west of the M6 won’t see much, which BBC and Metoffice seem to think.
-
I think that shower is going to peter out.
-
Showers that have made it over the Pennines have been dying a death once they have got to lower ground though that shower north of Manchester would have my name on it if it got here.
thursday and Friday doesn’t look to exciting currently with only flurries forecast so far?
-
THe showers after these looks to be much more scattered from the east. Could be dry for the rest of the day.
-
Showers seem to be making OK at the moment. Interesting to see what they do as the front this morning seemed to intensify at times.
-
What are the chances of the showers making it over? Metoffice aren’t too confident.
-
-1c here, bitter cold and the breeze is keeping frost away from the cars. Looks crisp on the grass though. Looks like the heavy snow is game on again for tomorrow morning, could be the most promising snow since March 2013 for me. I’ve been told to take it easy getting to work tomorrow haha.
Metoffcie not really going for many showers in the afternoon on the dreaded app, but they were seriously out with the precip chances today anyway.
-
I DID have several hours of heavy snow tomorrow, now I have 1. Haha.

BBC don't use the MetOffice warnings anymore. They use information from MeteoGroup.
They still use the Metoffice warnings. I was surprised when they said it.
-
The BBC are so incorrect with the Metoffice warnings. Just watched the 5pm forecast and they are still using the amber warning, and I’m assuming the models, from several hours ago.

Big fluffy cumulus clouds moving over in Frodsham.

It’s 1c here and the wind has picked up. It’s bitter. I’ve not felt wind chill like that in years, if not, ever.
-
People need to stop looking into each bit of detail a second it changes. If it keeps being the same then it’s more likely ?

Places like me close to the Pennines were more in the firing line before today. My confidence has slipped because I thought with time we would get the snow, now with milder air making inroads at the weekend we haven’t got much time.
It’s only milder from 1 batch of model runs, and that’s more for the south. Metoffice are still showing a significant snow event for Friday, even if it is for the south. The milder air almost needs to creep into the south for it to be better for us, as the snow will move north.

Every cold snap has gone the same. I wouldn't of bet the sun rise on this going the same way. It has. I can not wait for the milder, wetter spring weather now to be honest.
Not really. This cold spell is totally different to any other, the previous ones were wrong temperatures and DPs. This one is a lack of moisture. Couldn’t really be much more different.

I agree. West of the M6, south of Preston I think will struggle today, though there is more cloud now
