  1. MODERATE Risk issued both days now. 45% hatched tomorrow too now!
  2. Personally, I always tend to use a DSLR camera, worth spending some money on a decent one with interchangeable lenses if photography is your thing. I used my phone for fast moving shots, say if you just get 30 seconds at a location before the storms catch up. Agree with Mark, that a decent tripod for a digital camera is a must, think mine was £35, and it's pretty nice, my first one was $10 from Walmart in Fort Stockton, and it lasted a couple of years of light use, but fell apart during a massive lightning storm - gutted! Also, make sure your good are covered by insurance, I now use Protect My Bubble and for sub £8 a month, my camera and lenses are protected - which includes damage while away from home and on holidays! Well worth the money! Mike.
  3. Yep, can't wait to sink that first beer stateside!
  4. Lol, I quote the wrong post, sorry. Haha. Heck knows why I'm a web developer. Sorry, I meant @Newbie85, are you flying on 11th June from LHR on the 1440?
  5. Hey up, Are you on the 1440 from LHR to DEN on 11 June by any chances? It will be a fantastic trip, been every year since 2015 and such an amazing group of people to chase with, always on the money when chasing! Cheers, Mike.
  6. Works for me, will drop you a message over the weekend mate.
  7. Booked a room there, spare second queen bed if anyone wants to split a room for that night. Would be approx £41.
  8. Looks like Days Inn on Tower Road is the best priced hotel for a night on Mon 11 June, at £82 for a room. Anyone else staying there that night?
  9. SD Memory Cards / Micro SD Memory Cards. I prefer 8GB/16GB ones over the bigger memory cards e.g. 64GB/128GB, as I worry about having all my photos on one single card, in case it got lost dropped. Alternatively, I bring a laptop, and offload photos to OneDrive each night or Dropbox, so they are saved somewhere safe. Extension bars are good, travel adapters, hayfever tablets too, Kansas can be hayfever central with all the grasslands! Breathable shorts are good for the hot days, but also something warmer as Nick says for cooler evenings after storms have rolled through. Also something comfortable for the flight, might go with tracky bottoms on this years flight, for a bit more comfort than jeans on the way across.
  10. Lol. Yep, tour 4, can't wait. Anyone else flying out of Heathrow the day before to Denver via BA?
  11. Hey guys, What flights did you choose? I looked at Phoenix via LHR but its £850 ish. Dubline to Phoenix is about £395?
  12. Same boat here. Cheapest I've seen is £1041 return. Driving sounds like fun though!
  13. Return to DEN from MAN via LHR is £520.
  14. Hey guys, My 4th chase next year and decided on Tour 4 from Denver. Just wondering if there is a Base Hotel in Denver, like in DFW? Who else is on T4? Excited? Mike.
  15. Shame we missed each other this year. Thanks for everyone on T1 that made it such an unforgettable experience and an amazing adventure. See everyone on the plains next year!
  16. Hi everyone, Have just got home, and without a doubt the best tour yet. Everyone on the trip made this memories of a lifetime and I think all of us had a job at the airport not to cry etc. as we went our separate ways. Tour 1 has been amazing, and I really want to say a massive thanks to Paul, Tony, Arron and Nick, some of those core punches were mental. Really looking forward to next year as always, but meantime, hope Tour 2, 3 and 4 are as successful as Tour 1 has been, and stay safe! I'll upload some more photos in the coming days for the forum if thats OK, don't want to confuse it in with Tour 2 threads. Cheers, Mike.
  17. Another day and another fantastic chase with everyone on Tour 1. Bagged our 7th and 8th tornadoes of the tour South of Waynoka, and ended in Enid, OK with the promise of possible elevated storms by 5am. Also a big one for me, my first EVER daytime still lightning shot. Some shots attached below:- Tornado South of Waynoka (note the debris field underneath the lowering) Daytime double C-G. Ended with this stunner! Also attached my video of the multi-vortex(the fun starts about 2:25):-
  18. Hi everyone, Fantastic day yesterday. As always, its never nice to hear that just down the road, at least 1 didn't make it. Photos below, ended up with two fantastic night-time lightning shows, and my first successful capture of anvil crawlers and spider lightning! Happy is an understatement. Well played to the drivers and forecasters yesterday who got us safely in place every single time. First tornado less than a mile away Second funnel as it moved away. Second tornado far middle centre in the distance. About 6 miles away. Pretty nice anvil crawler over the hotel last night at 2am... Cheers, Mike.
  19. One of the Mammatus display from near Groom, TX yesterday.
  20. A classic supercell today with nice striations, a hail core, some nice lightning and a mesocyclone near Stimmett, TX. This went on to drop 2 inch hail just down the road.
  21. One more. Pano of the last storm we were on yesterday.
  22. Some hail video of what sounded like explosions hitting the car!
