  1. Not the full cake mix in terms of ingredients, down here.

It may well end up the NW favourite, good ol' thundery rain. You never know though!? And Alerts Pro issued a storm watch, that's always a bonus. :)

have you checked out the latest ir sat images from sat24 that mcs is having babies :O and it has exploded in size in the last 30 mins ... i live in hope :)

Hi everyone, I've just joined as a member hope it's ok to be on here without having any technical storm knowledge

ello :) we are all learning all of the time :) and welcome to the roller coaster ride that is radar watching :)

  2. Well first off our area stands a good chance of some of the action heres wishing we get a good show .

    Off topic but i,v a question .

over the last week to ten days from my location which is winscombe north somerset i have viewed out towards my south east some sort of light show ,almost like some one shining a powerfull torch into the sky .

or quite possibly some sort of lazer .i have viewed this as late as 2.30am ,it seems to follow a pattern so probably controled on a timer etc .

last night there was some thin cloud around and some very silvery streaks every few minutes .

my wife thinks glastonbury or it could be from higher up on the mendips .

Any info from other posters would be appreciated with thanks legritter .

I once saw the lights of Boomtown (Matterley Bowl) from the hill behind my house. It's easily 10m as the crow flies. Had me puzzled for a while :)

Interested in your question, legritter.  You have just described something similar to what I saw last week when I was having a look for the aurora.  I'm definitely to the SE of you and what I saw was to my NNW.  It looked like an oval patch of white light that moved around.  There was no obvious beam of light either above or below it and when I told my OH about it in the morning (he was snoring and I didn't like to wake him!) he was intrigued and wondered if it was a UFO!  It was about 1.15-1.30 when I saw it, just that one evening.  Could it have been testing lights at Glastonbury?  It would appear that a line from your village to mine would be very close to going through that area.  Doubt that we shall ever know for sure, but I'm glad that I was not alone in my viewing!!!

glastonbury had some huge skyscanners running this year ...it could of well been them .. i have seen lightshows as far as stourhead gardens to trowbridge...

  5. it's kind of cool, but I was just having a cheeky smoke and brew in the back garden looking south and every now and again I can the faintest flicker of lightning reflecting of the high cloud currently overhead....I'm in Lyneham Wilts which is 50 odd miles NNW of the IOW.....nice!

indeed its only a few lux above background light polloution and yet it can be seen :)  natures flash bulb

  6. Salisbury plain has its own little micro climate... im counting on it to help our course

oh yes .. lets hope it comes throu ..

lightning waning now, but that was just what the doctor ordered!

That was as it was arriving, it did get much better than that. I just couldn't film as the rain was driving in to the window and getting everything soaking wet.

nicely done lol .. love the second one :)  i know that giggle well :)

  7. I don't think it'll be long Andy. Have you got a decent view to the south?

I can hear Mapantz's thunder in the distance and can see the lightning kicking off. That'll slide west of here. What will hit us is still approaching the IOW.

i have that lump called the salisbury plain in the way ... im at the bottom of the wrongs side of the ridge... but i just went out side to check on my tripods and seen some very faint evelated flashes ..  also i have friends at the IOW festival who are crapping them selfs ..gonna be a wet one for them again ..
