  1. Low of 5.7°C here so it was the second coldest night of the month after yesterday's 4.9°C.
  2. I think it will be a warm start to September, with a very cool second half. Then October will be very mild, dry and sunny, but followed by a wintery, cold, dryish November.
  3. More cloud around here than last night, and 0.3°C up on the temperature this time yesterday, creeping down slowly. May not get as low as the 4.9°C last night.

  14. My record low indoor temperature (in the computer room) was 6.6°C on 30th/31st January 2010!! :o In the utility room it has been known to get down to 3-4°C in winter, where the dogs sleep.
  15. It's 19.5°C inside now, the heater has gone on. My physique was not designed for cold (anything below 20°C). Brrr. Shivering at my computer here.
  16. I was in Lincoln that August, where they got a good storm from that, but I had my week's holiday in France that week (first week of August). There were no storms during my week in France.
  17. The fact is these things don't happen often anywhere in the UK. This climate is not known for any type of interesting/extreme weather. If it does happen (and usually in a very half baked manner) it often falls down to chance. Sometimes you go can ages without anything interesting and then a few things happen all at once like snow events or good storms. Those times people remember foundly when we "used to get storms, etc" when initially forecast are few and far between and generally a rarity in this climate, which is partly why people remember particular events so well. The same in Oklahoma would probably be forgotton after 2 seconds as their average storms are far worse than our most severe. The main thing to say is if you want a climate where there's good snow in winter, gales, severe convective spring/summer thunderstorms and hail, and lots of sunshine, go to South Dakota or Colorado.
  18. It's 19.8°C inside today, more days this cold and the heater will go on!

  21. An interesting observation about room temperatures is that when I am in the room it is up to 1-2°C warmer than average on a given day as compared with me leaving early in the morning and returning in the evening. Now it is 20.6°C so a bit on the cold side, but I can always stuff my face with fattening foods to address that trouble.
  22. No, only two pairs of underwear and a fleece over the top. Now 20.4°C at 11:30am and the highest we had in here this summer was 23.1°C thanks to this cool house with its thick stone walls.
