  1. Very much the same here. Just one, thundery downpour, please, is that too much to ask for? Here's a picture to brighten up the mood
  2. Game over here too. There is virtually no convection to my west anymore, all to the east (as usual). Oh well, there's always next year (or maybe not)
  3. A heavy shower has developed right to my east, we got the light bit.. story of 2011
  4. I'm wondering too. West & South Yorkshire = no go for storms this year!
  5. Wow-za, massive, towering clouds to my east AND west. Convection starting here.. and agreed Steve, we need some action!
  6. Yesterday was an absolute catastrophic forecast from the Met Office for my area. The hours of heavy rain turned into 2 - 3 hours of light rain which accumulated to 5 mm. I think I'll just turn the TV off whenever the weather forecast comes on, there is no point in watching it, and I don't care how hard or complex forecasting is, if it's hardly ever right it's just pointless.
  7. Yeah, probably no chance for me either. I think East Yorkshire/Lincolnshire have had enough storms this year, send some over here. :
  8. We were forecast an absolute deluge yesterday, got 5 mm.. total crap forecasting. This area is so boring for weather, can't wait til winter when we actually do good for anything.
  9. http://www.earthcam.com/usa/newyork/timessquare/ A few live webcams to New York City. I think the best one is "Cam 1", it moves around a lot. People don't seem to phased right now, not long to go before Irene is there..
  10. 10.8c, mostly cloudy. Min was 8.2c, low mist in the early hours.
  11. I first saw brown leaves in mid July. Also saw some acorns, the first time I've noticed them for ages, but they're early this year.
  12. Sunday is forecast to be sunny with a high of 17c and a low of 9c. The BBC always over-estimate the temperatures, and on many occasions I record temperatures at night 4c lower than the forecast, due to my more rural and sheltered location. Frost is unlikely at a low level area like mine but I'm sure it's gonna be chilly the next few nights!
  13. Very dry for parts of the Midlands and Yorkshire and also North/Northwest Scotland.
  14. Currently 13.0c, max 13.3c Rain, but nowhere near as heavy as forecast, I wonder when the heavy stuff will arrive?
  15. As long as I get some snow and cold I won't be crying. January was average here this year with snow and frost, so not the be all and end all.
  16. Ah, I remember March 2006, not as good as March 2001 though!
  17. 12.5c, damp and overcast. Hours of heavy, prolonged rain? Honestly I doubt it..
  18. http://www.terena.org/webcam/ A webcam for Amsterdam.. looks like the thunderstorms have finished.. but hey, they might return, and would be interesting to watch!
  19. Anyone got any idea when todays deluge is suppose to begin, all that PPN in the North Sea is moving east away from the UK..
  20. 10.9c, overcast. Low 10.2c Expecting heavy rain later today..
  21. We are still stuck at around 40 mm for the entire month here so still below average, all months this year below average except for February and after that dry and warm spring all that rain in February seems to have no effect at all on the relatively dry ground here.
  22. http://expert-images.weatheronline.co.uk/daten/proficharts/en/nae/2011/08/25/basis06/ukuk/rsum/11082700_2506.gif Not sure where else to put this but a seriously wet day today, an inch of rain forecast for Leeds, not so good for Leeds Festival goers if it comes off.
  23. The temperature has risen 3 degrees in one hour, sunny with some cumulus cloud. Risk is low but.. eh.. gotta hope!
  24. There's really no relation to cold summers and cold winters. It has no effect whatsoever. This winter could end up being the mildest in the past 100 years, or maybe the coldest ever, who knows, but the current summer really has no part to play. Not necessarily true. Stations in the south east like Benson recorded -18C temperatures last winter and regularly feature as one of the coldest in the UK, especially in months such as March. Yeovilton in the South West also recorded -17C in the winter of 2009 - 2010. Not sure why these places get so cold yet so low lying and so far south. Even a place in Buckinghamshire near London recorded -19c last December, of course daytime temperatures are much higher and snow doesn't last long compared to here.
