Met Office just have a warning out now for snow/ice from midnight tonight to midday tomorrow - although I think that'll be extended right into Wednesday too - snow accumulations of up to 3cms plus and I should think a bit more if drawn out to Wednesday lunchtime - 200m and above - possible accumulations below that height too - so you being in the crows nest lol at 348m shouldn't worry too much - you may get quite a bit tonight as the front moves through - possibly even blizzard conditions - and then lots of showers packing in which will be mostly snow till Wednesday lunchtime at least

euro 4 can sometimes appear a little conservative with the spread of "pinks" - the beeb usually increase the areas on their maps that'll get hit - so I think we all have a good chance of at least seeing some snow - accumulations will vary but the higher up you are the better chance you have of that - it's not winter wonderland feet of snow this time - but at least some of us will finally break our winter duck lol

Thank you Andy, fingers crossed. Im 45 and like a kid haha. I'll keep you informed

I came back on here tonight hoping to see some positivity. (I shouldn't really, I've been here long enough to know how it works), yet we are in the midst of a December SSW, a very rare beast. It could and should, give us the winter we've been waiting for, for years. It might not... however, we are in the best position we've been in for years. The models are struggling with an outcome and it's a fact that an SSW will play havoc with numerical weather prediction. We (My family) are losing our home on the 7th January. We will be ok somehow. One of our Netweather members has just been given the all clear from cancer. Is it really worth any animosity over the weather? Something which is out of our control?

It's Christmas eve tomorrow, real winter weather is coming (allegedly at some point...)

Just enjoy the hunt for cold and have a merry Christmas....

We went through exactly the same situation 4 years ago, same day too. Thoughts are with you and your family. Only consolation I can give is it is only bricks and mortar. Hope all works out for you.

Bet you enjoyed that mate! Safe journey home. Reckon you should be okay- should just be getting underway around 10ish.

Cheers mate.  We had VIP with Carlsberg and met players at end so more like 1am. Being dropped off in Newport first.  Fingers crossed lol

Am I the only one who finds these 'feels like' temperatures a load of cobblers?:D

I was out on the last day in Feb and it 'felt like -4C with a near gale-force wind'...It was, in fact, -5C!:cc_confused:

    I've never got it!

The night of the blizzard the other week, about midnight a car was stuck outside my house. I went to help. I have never  been so cold. The wind and snow ripepd through you.  I was only out for 30 mins and was shivering for ages after. I've never felt cold like that for a long time.  It was -9 outside and felt like -20.

i noticed derek panicing yesterday on his forecast making sure he was telling us about the snow coming tonight - maybe he has had a load of twitter abuse and his bosses have given him a roasting too - he's very lucky he didn't get sacked - if it was me i would have sacked him - too interested in how he looks on camera and less interested in doing the job he's paid for

I love snow but tonight's forecast dismays me lol. Still very white here and i am now craving the sun and warmth.  Nobody on here hates you Andy, you have been missed greatly. Your enthusiasm is infectious and long may it continue. We all agreed with you, the red warning should have been given earlier, far too many people didnt even know snow was coming.

Yeah when you live up here and extreme is the norm ....can wear thin when you cant get out easily....

You are telling me Lindy, we have had big leaks in our bedroom ceilings due to snow blowing into the attic, a lot of neighbours have said the same! Have you seen the size of the snow hills at Asda Brynmawr car park, at least 12 ft high at the bottom end lol

Conservatory watch indicates that blocking the gap in the ceiling with 2 towels makes no difference.

I've also got another 3 leaks.  A bit of the rubber has come away from the seal and there's at least an inch deep extending in a 6 inch radius from it.  I dread to think how much snow I'll have inside tomorrow morning.  I've taken all cushions and tables out (but not the beer).

My garden varies from nothing on the patios to knee-high drifts by the walls.

Same problem through gap on front door. Had to block with towels
