I know. I'll just stay out of the model thread from now on. At least we have a laugh in here.

Looking at what weather station to buy - any ideas? Only a basic one.

this is mine, it is great. You can access it from your mobile to keep track . Very impressed with it, as with the customer service from Weather

  2. Forcsst rain tonight. At 3 degrees. It's -9.7 here in Brynmawr atm with 15 inches of lying snow. I'm.beginning to wonder if this rain will be snow especially as the temperatures on the BBC forecast have been miles out. Saying-2 atm but it's miles out. Same on Sunday. Didn't get above -1 All day yet rain and sleet forecast at 2 degrees. Time will tell.

Looks like only snow on the very top of Pen Y Fan which is a bit surprising

We got the dreaded drip drip now. Yes I was surprised Dowlais had no snow too. Very marginal.  Met office say snow all day but not showing on radar unless that band pivots.

Should be hitting peak gusts between now and 14:00. Sat in work in Newport watching the trees and lamp posts sway in the wind

I hope my house is OK when i get home. It didn't fair too well during 2013/14 winter.

    How is everyone doing?

Used to live in Pontnewydd in Cwmbran. Where do you work in Newport?

I'm keeping next weekend free to go to the Brecon Beacons or thereabouts on the premise that there will be snow above a couple of hundred metres. Corn Ddu, Pen y Fan and Cribyn are a favourite jaunt of mine in winter weather. I'm just worried that any snow that falls mid-late next week won't be enjoyed at the weekend if the next low comes steaming in off the Atlantic straight away!

Can see the Beacons from where I live, message me next week and i'll let you know whether to travel or not.

  6. Still no accumulations to shout about in Newport despite snow for the past 4 hrs. :(

I live in Celtic Horizons by Asda, snowed since 6pm heavy, temp -0.5, dew point -0.8 and yet although settling, it's just a thick dusting. Also thawing, can hear dripping and can see it melting on patio! Wierd!

  7. Just if anybody's thinking of heading that way- M4 blocked in both directions at J36 because of snow!

Thank you for that, was about to leave Newport to work in Bridgend. Was already thinking about not going and that has made my mind up!

  8. nice one jay - flakes the size i've never ever seen before and that includes sking in the alps

your signature says brynmawr - should be loads up there

I know, there is loads up there, but living at the moment in Newport as we are having a new house build just outside Brynmawr. Typical, the worst winter (or best lol) in ages and I've lived in Newport and missed most of it gggggrrrrrrrrrrrr

    Heads of Valleys getting hammered!

    :)
