  6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LZfHMnoBow The You tube videos are out already - this one is from Manchester earlier on this afternoon- looks pretty bad.
  7. Its not entirely a non event down here in South Cheshire just yet currently as its just again began snowing lightly with perhaps hopefully some more fun and games to come later this afternoon and this evening for us in the North West if that Mark Hugo weather guy is right.
  8. Oh thats a nice surprise! Icy rain has now turned back to light grainy snow here in South Cheshire temps have also fallen ahead of another band of precipitation coming in off the Irish sea. You never know the Met Office might be right after all!!
  9. Freezing sleet/ icy rain here currently with leaves covered in icy droplets with a few small icicles hanging off the garage roof. Can we call the snow a non event yet??
  10. Light sleet- ice pellets now falling here in South Cheshire Manchester/ North Cheshire seems to be getting a right pasting: Always the way I guess! http://www.tfgm.com/corporate/webcam.cfm - London Rd Manchester http://images.laterooms.com/webcam/de/webcam-manchester.html- City Skyline
  11. Its pure sleet now here in South Cheshire Manchester judging by the webcams is getting hammered though!! Any chance this sleet will turn back to snow or is it game over for me??
  12. Snow has turned back to light wet snow/ sleet currently. Latest Cat and Fiddle Road webcam: http://www.maccinfo.com/cat/
  13. Getting heavier here in South Cheshire with increasingly bigger flakes with a good dusting now on all surfaces. Is the front stalling over Manchester as it seems to be having problems moving any further east??
  14. Light snow now falling and settling here in South Cheshire temps hovering at -1c currently with a biting windchill factor
  15. Light-Moderate snow now falling in icy droves in Sandbach south Cheshire now with a slight dusting on roads rooftops and pavements.
  16. Bone dry and still only -1c in South Cheshire. Will it be snow or rain when it reaches here??
  17. Becoming increasingly Overcast and threatening looking from the west now with a dew point around -5c here currently.
  18. Temp here has actually fallen to -3.2c now with thickening white cloud really beginning to roll in from the west right across the Cheshire plain with the Met Office latest forecast going for light-moderate snow showers as early as 12pm across Southern and Eastern areas of the region but still I dont think the fun and games will kick off widely till around 2-3pm.
  19. Just spoken to my neighbour who works for Cheshire East Council gritting team and they have been told by the Met Office to expect 2-7cm widely across Cheshire East into Gtr Manchester with between 8-12cm potentially possible over higher routes such as the Cat and Fiddle Macclesfield-Buxton road. Heaviest of the accumalating snowfall is likely to be around mid afternoon- early evening according to the Specialist Met Office forecast given to the Council with even low levels seeing a decent covering for a time this afternoon and evening before ice and fog become major issues overnight into Sunday morning. Down to around -7c last night although frost not as harsh as yesterday morning due to high cloud cover later in the night brrr!! Currently hovering around -2- -3c at my station and clouding over rapidly from the North West with ground temps still well below zero so fingers crossed inland we won't have any problems with any snow not wanting to stick. I think many will be watching the North West/ West Midlands later on to see how things pan out on a nationwide scale.
  20. Crewe and Portvale football Games both off Saturday due to frozen pitch and Heavy snowfall forecast!
  21. Just watched BBC forecast they to are going for a period of Heavy snow across the majority of inland areas across the North West Saturday afternoon and evening with even Merseyside/ The Wirral seeing a Wintry mixture of freezing rain sleet and some inland wet snow for a time. I am not keeping my hopes up just yet but I think even if its only transient to some areas further west the majority of Cheshire and Gtr Manchester will see 2-5cm of snow widely with perhaps up to 6-10cm on higher ground closer to the Peak District in areas such as Macclesfield going up to Stockport and Buxton. Latest Met Office Warnings: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/nw/nw_forecast_warnings.html?day=2e BBC Radio Manchester LIVE - Dianne Oxberry Forecast 5:30pm Another bitter cold night to come before hand though if that cloud over North Wales stays away!
  22. Yeah a very cold day here in South Cheshire with a hard frost remaining all day nearly in shelter temp currently same as you in Crewe 0.1c here in Sandbach. What are your thoughts on our snow chances tomorrow?? Game on or nothing at all??
  23. Anyone know the snow chances tommorow for South Cheshire?? The Met Office have much of Cheshire East under 5-10cm AMBER snow warnings but I am not entirely sure whether we will see 2-5cm let alone the 5-10cm they are going for. Nevertheless I think Saturday will be an interesting one away for most away from the coast.
  24. An 18z eastward downgrade on the GFS for many not just us Northwesterners but by the looks of things it seems to be going against all the other models eg: ECM / GEM etc.... Latest BBC forecast low res forecast going for the snowy core of the battleground developing over Inland North West/ Peak District/ Midlands during Saturday. Still so much uncertainty out there and I imagine alot of nowcasting on the day!
  25. A real knife edge situation for the North West for Saturday/Sunday with inland elevated areas such as Macclesfield, Buxton, the Peak District and Pennine areas probably seeing the most of any snowfall. Merseyside and the Wirral however are even trickier to forecast as thery are really on the boundary between cold and less cold. Fingers crossed for at least a few cms transient as it may be for all though!
