  1. One of the things that helped me as a child was gloves and soft music playing through over ear headphones, I used to be terrified and even to this day wearing gloves keeps me calm in stressful situations.
  2. I just found my great great grandads WW1 medals, they are almost 100 years old now incredible! Ill have to get them cleaned up and I will take a few photos of them they have weathered a bit in those 100 years, I love finding bits like that my family have a long history in the Army, both in the British Army and the Italian Army. Nice evening though I really hope we get some activity here in the next 24 hours in the summer I might chase in the continent but I have never driven in a different country before so I am a bit hesitant.
  3. They just said Severe Thunderstorms on the BBC weather but the North sea lights up like a Christmas tree during the day tomorrow.
  4. Me to mate I have some Wray & Nephew Jamaican Rum, i have a feeling im going to need it. haha.
  5. Had a bit of a scare with one of my Canon lenses, the one I use the most had fogged up on the inside creating a sort of psychedelic tunnel vision when taking photos, I put it in rice over night and luckily it cleared right up! Phew! Typical, one the more stormy periods for the UK and Estofex is down, I feel like im going to be in the middle lull though, the storms over night will be less organized once they get here and the ones in the day will be more east of me. Only time will tell but you can feel the difference out there today, the smell and feel reminds me of being in the Canary Islands in the morning for some reason.
  6. Does anyone know the highest cape values to verify in the UK? I am seeing -9Li's on those cape charts and that seem extraordinarily high for the UK?
  7. The footage of that man hole cover reminds me of this one from Minneapolis back in the 90's.
  8. If those verify I think Estofex would put out a level 3 warning for us instead of the 15% lightning risk with a marginal level 1... if its up by then? Is there any historical charts showing a verified lifted index of -8 or less? I also wonder what the highest cape ever achieved in the UK was?
  9. Im reserving myself from being drawn in, but you cant help it can you, the excitement is building. Zanex should be shipped into the forums.
  10. You are right I think it was in June 2006 then maybe the 14th? I was on my way home from Asda with my mum and there was a very dark cloud to the south of us and she joking said wouldn't it be funny If there was a massive lightning strike (I used to be terrified of storms and I was 11) and there was a huge lightning strike haha possibly one of the scariest times of my life, I was really bad. I think it helped me over come being scared of storms because after that I can't remember any times I was scared of thunder.
  11. 28th June 2009 was a cracker If I remember correctly and 6th August 2006 sticks out in my mind as well but it was so long ago that Im not sure if I have the right date? Best storms I have ever seen have been in the South East USA/Caribbean, one in Mexico when lightning struck a tree near us showering us with smouldering bark, one in Florida that turned International Drive into a river and one when I was sailing from Port Canaveral to Freeport in the Bahamas, it had constant anvil crawlers made even more epic because we were in the middle of the sea it was caused by Hurricane Irene, although coming back to Florida was the worst as the hurricane had made the sea very very angry, when you are on a 130k ton ship and you cannot walk down the corridors without being slammed against the walls you know its bad, dont even get me started on walking down the stairs. I love this anticipation of getting storms, if it was guaranteed it wouldn't be as exciting. Also why doesnt the UK have Pulse-Doppler radars?
  12. 18th July and both the 19th and 20th September last year were pretty decent for the storms in my location (although we missed out on the 28th July last year where Brighton and parts north of me got hammered by some very decent lightning) The July 18th one had a well defined shelf cloud on the leading edge it almost looked like a plow, we got a little storm on the 19th and the one on the 20th went on for almost 4 hours, both at night, it reminded me of the storms I remember having as a kid in the early 90's. Im not holding my breath for anything but I think we are due some intense storms, maybe even some large hail. I think we have been dodging the bullet for too long now.
  13. They are pretty rare these days, they love cherry trees.
  14. Feeling stormy out there this evening once the clouds rolled in, could do with a good storm to be honest, its been one of those weeks. im pretty sure we are looking at the same clouds haha. Sign of instability maybe?
  15. Insane wind gusts, must be well over 30mph, probably the strongest wind gust I have seen since last winter, probably one of the strongest gusts ive ever seen in my location.
  16. Unfortunately I had to euthanize my cat today, he was 17, almost 18, I have had him since I was 5 years old, he greeted me every morning with the strangest noises that have ever come out of a cat, 17 years of my entire life and hes seen me grow up, unfortunately it was his time he had kidney failure and most likely heart disease, I saw a rainbow about 20 minutes after he had past, it made me feel alot better. I cant describe the feeling, he was part of my life for so long.
  17. Loverly morning! Feels like spring is almost here, id rather have this then clouds but I would rather have snow this time of year but beggars cant be choosers.
  18. Getting a reading of 11C here not sure if its accurate but it feels warm, it has that early spring but cold wind kind of feel. Although its quite depressing that the average* summer temperature around here is only 10c warmer... I also heard somewhere London is the largest city with the least difference between summer and winter mean temperatures?
  19. Good find! Its a little bit long winded for this time of night though!
  20. Really coming down here massive flakes but its really wet snow.
  21. Wait I just looked outside and its snowing!! what, thats crazy.
  22. Snow is really coming down now, its about a 4/5 on the Murr scale.
  23. Nice covering here but we have only light snow, how does the heaviest snow go north and south of here? work that one out.
