Oh and i like the way people are complaining about how humid it is when its 16C out
Places in texas are 40C+ at the moment stop complaining!

Looks like my best chance of storms is for tommorow as im just inside the red area harry shaded on his map!
Ive missed out so far, not bagging one storm!! I reckon theres a witch around here who doesn't like storms so she does her voodoo magic and they don't come this way! haha!
Good luck for anyone in the north today guys i hope you get a good few rumbles!
-
for me im still firmly in the no storms club!!
-
You're not the first to ask about that as it really does look as you described - even I had to look twice! Alas closer inspection of the RAW image reveals its a seagull and the 'ring' is just artifact from the high JPEG compression in the uploaded version of the picture.
Jamie
is that your red scooby over on the left?

A storm in lincolnshire last night!
I didnt film this btw i found it on youtube.

One way plane ticket to the US please!
this country is very uninteresting in the way off weather most of the time.
Its just like russian roulette but this time i wanted to get shot! haha
-
bit of a dissapointment for me in london to put it mildly, is there anything more to come or has it all passed for today? thanks
100% agree with you there! very disapointing.

Could this be what you saw Neilsouth? I took this looking north towards the sea about 20 minutes ago. I suddenly spotted an odd formation similar to one I saw a few years ago. It seemed to approach land rather quick despite the storm moving along the coast.
Wow looks amazing its a shelf cloud!
-
Kicking off again!!
Just seen a really strange cloud , it was racing just across the horizon but very low down below the storm
Probably got caught in the inflow!!!
i need a direct train to kent please no stops!

what a dissapointing weekend for me!
soon my time will come and i can leave the no storms club eventually!
-
This is what that cell looks like now - wish I was under it - look at the updraught on the right handside, almost perfectly vertical.
Darkening to the west, though sun is shining straight at me so I can't see.
WOW! that is an amazing storm structure! looks liek you live in the great plains of the US with a storm like that! nice!
-
Ive missed out today and yesterday! not one bit of thunder im hopeing as its getting dark out to my SW that something is comming but ive pretty much lost all hope now!
The stormshield holds strong.

You saw the back of the cell (with a hint of some flanking line) heading now up past Stevenage to the NE.... hey, how can you tell the CAPE values? Have you gotten a balloon and Radiosonde for yourself from eBay? ;-)
haha im just going by what netweather have said for my area between 4pm and 7pm they predicted 800 - 900 cape! wouldnt mind my own weather balloon to be honest!
Sunny here now good sign so that the convection can get going more!
-
the big cloud turned out to be a dud!! im still hopeing as cape is still rising past 900J/Kg
-
FANTASTIC!!!!!
if you look to the south west you might be able to see it! but its not looking as good anymore as its closer i think its developing stills oo m aybee when it gets to you it will produce something!
-
this is coming towards me!
fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fully fledged storm now over North Essex.
Must be fairly entertaining now between Braintree and Colchester, very powerful convection in that direction ahead of the already strong storms moving through Hertfordshire.
Meanwhile to my SSE low level cloud has parted to reveal a very thick glaciated anvil in the distance with some quite impressive mammatus developing. Quite a sight actually, if only I had a working camera!
Also evidence of large cumulus to my SW, probrably S/SW London.
Explosive convection to my South West with pileus, should it develop further it will brush to my immediate South before Long, effecting SE London and NW Kent.
And now moderate rain from a developing updraft to my immediate East, rapid convection still going to my SW, but it is rathing pulsing and collapsing.
Im seeign what your seeing and its heading directly my way!! it looks big and nasty!
-
It's the top of the thundery cells aligned up through N Herts (Hitchin to Royston, and adjacent Beds) you are seeing.
yup im seeing those tooo starting to rain here but nothing majour as of yet!
-
there getting plastered in central europe! wow! wheres a car and a passport when you need one!
Ive got some sferics over to my WSW! so im hopeing to get in on the action today but not holding much hope!
-
cape for the south east 900J/kg+ is that correct?
-
HAHAHA! I thought the same thing when i saw the flashes too! I had a vodka filled BBQ day and was inside with the curtains shut watchin telly by that point, when i saw the brightest flash through the bottom of my front room door, which leads to a hallway- so the lightning had to come through 2 doors (proper front door, down the hall way to the front room door) to see the flash that bright. I was like ay???? Then I heard the long rumbling deep bass thunder go on for ages, and was like roadrunner to the window, dropping everything in my lap and tearing through the front room like i was on fire to get my face pressed up against the glass. Weird thing to, was there was a chinese lantern way up in the sky that wasnt moving or drifting anywhere for like 15 minutes. It was dead eerie in the sky, being all on fire, with all the lightning.
Need the sun to break out now for some convective development. Its brightening up here and the rain has slowed down to a hard drizzle.
hahahahahahahahaha best post ever!!
Atleast you guys got one clap of thunder last night i got none, I just bout caught a really really distant flash really dull which sucked! ive still got hope for today but looks like nothings going to happen! unfair!
