Showers appearing near London, lightningmaps shows a strike just south of London M25 lets see what happens the other storm is out at sea underneath Wales.
Going by the rainfall radar there are no showers south of London ATM. Some rain in Oxfordshire, and Northants though.

A gentle cooldown from the north west could be a scenario.
The hot weather gradually easing away to the south east, without any thundery weather.
I hope this doesn't happen of course...

It’s been an ok day overall as I heard my first rumble since early July and managed to get some nice convection pics and Timelapse’s. I also managed to get a small funnel and had to include the Adorable nut-filled squirrel stalking me while I was taking the photos !
Not sure if that is a funnel or scud, hard to tell if it's attached to the base.
Looks like a Red Kite in that photo.

CGs and nice structure visible to the north. Believe it or not I still haven't had a storm in this country (dozens in USA this month but nothing here), so this looks to be probably the 8th near-miss of 2023.
We would like to see your monsoon photos some time.

Seeing distant flashes to the NE from that storm off North Norfolk! Looks pretty active. Looking forward to tomorrow, slack winds underneath cool air aloft across the board. Could be a beautiful day for some CB cloudscapes. Wouldn’t rule out funnel clouds near local convergence zones, ie near the coast from sea breeze convergence and storm outflow.
Quite a bit of convergence in the North sea at the moment.

Interesting meteorology at play currently.
We've got the mid / high level cloud and instability in red coming from a southerly direction, however the North Sea low cloud / clag depicted in white is moving in mostly from the east, as the wind direction at the surface is different compared to much higher up.
I think these are the type of set ups where you can get thunder fog in for coastal areas, but quite rare for it to all come together. Not expecting that tomorow morning anyway.
August 2020 there may have been an instance of that if i remember.
Lost count of the times low cloud from the North sea , has ruined any views of cloud structure and lightning.

I think he says error bars as he's referring to the margin of area with predicting where any storms will be.
I thought he was on about chocolate bars, Aerobars and Mars bars.

Tomasz Schafernaker on the weather for Surrey and London mentioned Aerobars ? , and the storms are in the south rite now in his forecast. Sounds quite unusual

I wonder if it's worth driving down to Margate, from Thurso?

A report of NLCs from Norfolk this morning.
Several reports of Aurora last night too, but didn't pick it up.
Saw a bright orange meteor at 01.20 this morning near the plough heading SW. Most likely an early Persied.

There was more thunder around yesterday evening, today is just a windy mess...
