So i go away for a bit and all this potential happens Someone give me a quick brief while i struggle to catch up
-
Been light on and off here today, seems the same through out much of southern england. Them cells/showers over S ireland are turning electric. Not bad!
-
If that's heading my direction, that's taking the p*** because that means I've had 8 Thunderstorms this year. LOL!
Today, at 12 15 aprox i had a heavy cell with a few bangs in it and i confirm there was a strike about 700m away from me
-
lewis ya needed to get into a more open area!
-
towards tunbridge!
-
Cannot be to bad, two aircraft have just gone through it at FL330 and FL160. Just looking on my radar box.
Going to go get another picture, looks amazingly thundery, yet I doubt it's doing much!!!
And whatever that is south west of Heathrow, looks bloody immense.
Yep, not got any lightning on it, any at about FL500? Wish i had my plane near me and not 35 miles away lol
-
Nice cell passsing southbound... I believe it's west of, or overhead Heathrow. Looks to be towering to at least FL350 (35,000ft)
and the one lightning on the ATD detector throughout the whole of London is my location. haha!!
That'll be this:
About to hit... rather dark now, its east of heathrow now!
-
Possiably as the wind may be higher there!
-
Hi Liam, as present, IMO I wouldn't pay too much attention to what's going on stormwise over the midlands....These cells that are popping up are generally 'pop-corn' single celled beasts, with the updrafts only lasting 30 minutes or so before the lack of shear kills them....I think I'd recommend keeping an eye on the radar 20 or 30 miles or so to your north west to see what develops, as any cells brewing up in that area will probably reach you before dying back.....worth noting though that in eastern & possibly south eastern parts of England local surface wind convergence zones which are forecasted to develop might well aid in sustaining any storms brewing in those areas
Ok,
Well, its fairly windy here!
Hopefully something will pop up!

HEADING STRAIGHT FOR US!!!
screw what i just said, prited out tha last 3 radar scans, drew on its projected area... Coming right to central london... not till this evening though
-
yep the NW lightning detector is really good, in the last 1-10 mins 6 strikes all in a certain area!
-
HEADING STRAIGHT FOR US!!!
I think its going too far east, although it may change and expand...
-
that storm in the midlands is going to be BEAST
-
got a shower overhed, really light percip
-
The showers feeding in over Manchester and Liverpool..Can they build as they cross the Land and head South east towards London??
Yes, if were lucky, they will keep building until the afternoon!
-
WOW!
Ah, sorry to get you mixed up... I am a fail.
I think that we may see some thundery activity really soon
-
-
I'll try to get a pic, just wondering if surrey could see the same thing as me as she is about 20 - 30 nautical miles away from me.
-
Same here in Bracknell..I am not a thunderstorm expert lol but I think I can see the start of an anvil forming... don't laugh
I can see something really far in the distance, if poss could you take a pic?
-
Yep, hope to have some hail or thunder today, high winds and a light show with amazing cloudn formations would do good too!
I'm not in that zone but i'm not going to get hung up on Estofex's risk map, they don't love us southerners any more.
Also you have to also take into acount that that map is a GUIDE!
-
Again today, i can see any showers turning thundery, with mixed hail in the heavier ones and wind gusts!
-
Not had any lightning but, a cell has gone over my house...
-
Plus one robbie
-
Missed that sell about 10 miles South of me!
