  1. Can't tell whether its actually snowing as there is so much drifting. Snow blowing off the fields in sheets, running across in a line and spinning like a tornado. So strong in the gusts that it nearly blew me over, and anything not tied down is taking off.

It's been a while since I've seen spindrift, your in a fantastic location for snow whichever direction it comes from.
  2. Jeez, some of you are up and down like a yo-yo. Chill people, its only the weather, this is the end of March and anything snow-wise has to be a bonus really, regardless of forecasts/model outputs. Don't get me wrong, I do understand why people are disappointed following the warnings, etc. but we do need to remember that:

    a) A forecast is just that

b ) Warnings are covering the worst case scenario, which almost certainly won't happen for the majority.

Look at the Met Office's matrix for this event - look where the "tick" is. It's a high impact event, but low probability.

The main problem IMO is that people don't treat the warning's properly or how they are designed for. It's not necessarily the people's fault, I do think the warnings could be made a lot clearer, but that's another topic altogether.

Anyway, rant over, and its snowing here!

I was hoping for my only decent snow cover of the year out of this, I should have known better though as if it's not from the NW we rarely ever see anything.
  3. Very light snow, can’t see where 20 – 40cms is going to come from, the 2nd band will really have to shovel it down, about 3 - 4cm today but it’s been thawing very quickly despite temps hovering under 1C.

So far a moderate snow event unusual in March, it’s not however, at least so far, a memorable snow event, but then again I personally haven't seen one of those since 87.

Indeed, a little overhyped for the majority of the country really, although those in NE Wales look like getting in excess of 30cm.
