It's certainly a weird one out there tonight, there appears to be some very localised heavy snow, yet just a few miles either side it's either rain or sleet.
Temp 0.0c currently, snow due around 2-3pm. I wish this snow event had happened last week followed by clearing skies and colder weather than we've seen. Still it's mildly better than last year at least I've seen lying snow this year. Regarding hopes of the next cold spell, I wouldn't discount it, but the charts look uncannily like Decembers, we need that piece of PV lobe to disappear sharpish from Greenland. I'm struggling to find many charts showing such a scenario, hopefully by the end of the weekend more and more ensembles will. Until next time enjoy the ride and make the most.
Temp was at 4.7c at it's highest today, currently 3.6c. Tomorrow looks like the last hoorah for cold and snow for quite a while, maybe even the rest of winter, once we see the longwave pattern reset itself to what it was pre-January.
No need to as the entire GFS, ECM, GEFS, UKMO and every minor model agrees, off course feel free to post any output that disagrees. Winters over, of course not, is there any cold on the horizon, even more unlikely.
I've seen enough model output to be confident that the outlook is dire for cold In the next two weeks plus. All the hopecasting in the world won't change what is being shown, the fat lady is clearing her throat and I expect her to burst into song very soon.
