  1. -1.4°C and snizzle. Haven't used that word for ages!
  2. First chance of sunny photos today, lovely jubbly
  3. Sixteenth air frost at -3.0C. A centimetre of fresh snow in the early hours in the end - surprised it came as far west as Ayrshire!
  4. @Mair Snaw Chilled Broughton Wee Jock. Supporting the local brewery!
  5. Looks like anyone in Edinburgh fancying a drive out to the Lammermuirs tomorrow won't be disappointed.
  6. I know, I know - but just can't help posting the photos!
  7. Fifteenth air frost at -1.2°C. Snow icy and crunchy now. Brrrrr. Cyril our resident woodpecker is happy for nuts and the other shot last night in moonlight (not a bad phone photo!).
  8. I've been critical of BBC weather in the past and tonight's going to be no exception. The BBC London output on the news channel appears to be a reasonable estimate based on the models we've all been watching. And then there's BBC Scotland : Goodness me, what a terrible forecast for this evening - do they bother to cross reference with the radar? Ppn west of Glasgow and hardly anything north of the central belt. Same company's model output/graphics, wildly different outcome. Odd to say the least.
  9. Stunning day. Max of 0.4°C and now sub zero again. 7cm of decent squeaky snow that was a bit wetter down by the Tweed. Trees have remained dusted in icing sugar all day - true sign of cold. As you can see my walk started with the sky blue but heavy shower incoming! Finn loved every minute :
  10. Looks like I'm in the sweet spot just now. Fourteenth air frost at -0.1°C and 5cm+ of the lovely white stuff lying. I say + because it's bucketing down adding to the pile.. Main road white with black tracks.
  11. I suspect that the dog walk today may be a wee bit shorter than advertised. This xc forecast has, however, cheered me up!
  12. Merry Christmas evening! Thirteenth air frost at -4.0°C chilly. Accidentally left the hosepipe on outside overnight and there's a pin hole leaking fine spray - all over the rosemary plant. Pretty.
  13. Got down to -2.3°C last night making it my twelfth air frost. Grey sub zero morning midday max of 1.2°C then the blue skies and sun arrived making it a beautiful afternoon. Exciting weather times ahead after Saturday. Merry Christmas everybody
  14. Same here @Quinach - pleasure to be out for the first time in many days. Very much looking forward to seeing these views thick snow:
  15. Not posted all week. Here's the photo that quite simply sums it up:
  16. Ended up not too unpleasant here with a brief hour of seeing blue sky and a beautiful sunset. But up to mid afternoon was misty and grey: Felt quite Christmassy!
  17. Up by Whitmuir Farm shop this afternoon 0.0C according to the car: And now it is the eleventh air frost at the house at -0.1°C. Winter well underway
  18. Yesterday was the tenth air frost at -1.2C and all whilst it was depositing 14 cm of snow around my hoose: Some lovely photos from everyone above - hope you enjoy these as much as me and the dog enjoyed running around bananas! Percy my cockerel didn't come out of the coop all day. The hens did. What a whimp.
  19. +0.8°C here right now and max of 2.5°C this afternoon. These measurements have satisfied me that the weather station is accurate and not recording multiple fake air frosts for sure!
  20. Nothing at home. Not even an air frost (minimum at 0.2C). Had to drive into Edinburgh today to fix my car, and the settled snow started at West Linton and lasted all the way in and around the bypass even to the A1/East Lothian boundary. Frozen slush on the cars in Seafield even. Arthur's Seat looking very pretty, as of course are the Pentlands...
  21. Ninth air frost at -2.1°C. Was one of those wet frosts with everything covered in ice. Slippy too. Must get new trainers. Intriguing few days coming up. Marginal below 150m. Even below 250m maybe. But we do love a surprise and I'd put money on someone or something unexpected happening that the models miss.... As our beloved @johnholmesalways says, get the cold in place first then and only then worry about the detail of ppn.
