  1. Temperature was 0.7°C 90 mins ago. 1.3°C now as ppn comes in from the west... What will it be?!
  2. Ah, but is rime hoar frost, or is hoar frost rime?! Pretty sure they are different! Rain for me tonight apparently...
  3. Back side covering in case the M8 gets some coverings at the highest spots. That's the only reason I can think of.
  4. Before midnight got down to -2.6C but since midnight, just -1.0C, so that's my thirty second air frost. At dawn however it was +1.2C which is where it has stayed since. Bootiful again.
  5. Interesting outputs and worth pointing out that the concensus on the snow down south today is that ECM outperformed the other models and that the UKV was hopeless.
  6. Shetland isn't covered by ppn radar - always thought that ridiculous in this age.... Meanwhile in the Southern Uplands we had a max of -0.4°C so third ice day of the season.
  7. Thirty first frost certainly a good 'un at -6.4°C. Everything rock hard and covered in frost if not covered in snow. Heating bills this year aren't pretty.
  8. Patchy at 200m but below freezing. And this caught my eye. Here we go again!?
  9. Thirtieth air frost down to -3.9°C and a maximum earlier like elsewhere at 0.3°C so not quite an ice day. Back negative now as the sun has gone down behind the hill. Bootiful out there.
  10. Loving it John. 19 snow days and 21 air frosts since 1 Dec. 13 of those snow days have been in January. Two double figure negative minimums with coldest of -10.6°C.
  11. Usual afternoon dog walk with Finn. Even at 300m, slushy ish under foot with a good 4 inches of wet stuff on top. Slippy but pretty! Max earlier of 2.3C. Drip drip drip.
  12. 8cm in the end here. Not the GFS 61cm... Twenty ninth air frost at -0.4C
  13. Heavy snow now sticking all over, not just to yesterday's remnants. After last night's weird sleet fest in this manor, a welcome friend.
  14. Was just out to get coal from the bunker and shone the flashlight into the fog. And a sparkling sea of snizzle glinted back - the tiniest of snow flakes but millions of them slowly cascading to the ground. Bootiful. 0.1°C.
  15. Funny how the UKV was never onboard until the last 24 hours and now leads the ramp, just as GFS changes to a mere few centimetres with none of it heavy. Moderate snow here for an hour earlier - wet baws meant no new cover though. 0.6C. Brrrr.
  16. A wet intermittent covering here - down to 0.2C overnight. Even at bedtime (22.30) it was still only sleeting but just travel one mile and it's winter wonderland. All a bit weird.
  17. Still wet sleet here at 0.6°C. Pouring down under the yellow radar.
  18. Sleet here - the BBQ test always works (it's black metal so can see the ice splatter). If it's snowy in Lanark/Forth it won't be long now...
  19. I do appear to be under a red blob. My phone says an inch. Early starter with gourmet meal 24 hours later, or greasy kebab and bed?
  20. GFS, ECM, MeteoGroup and BBC - 20-30cms for shuggee. Met Office, chilly a bit windy. Maybe a shower. Hmmmmm.
  21. The meto warnings website seems to be malfunctioning at this time. Thanks Storm Christoph - just when there's some wild speculation to engage in. The word epic doesn't get used often enough - agreed!!
  22. 06Z GFS has now shifted to the ECM position, moving the centre back east at T+63/T+66. Lots more pink on XC Weather incoming. (It's going to drive me insane watching this every six hours).
  23. Morning. Modelling overnight by GFS has moved the path of the centre of the low 50 miles west across the 18z and 00z @03h00 Thurs T+69. Meanwhile, ECM have it 80 miles further east. With such minor changes making the difference between rain/sleet/snow and consistency of ppn throughout the 18 hour period. There's that word again for many - 'marginal'!
  24. It never turns out like this of course, but hey what an upgrade lol! And supplies in.
