I've been critical of BBC weather in the past and tonight's going to be no exception. The BBC London output on the news channel appears to be a reasonable estimate based on the models we've all been watching. And then there's BBC Scotland :
Goodness me, what a terrible forecast for this evening - do they bother to cross reference with the radar? Ppn west of Glasgow and hardly anything north of the central belt. Same company's model output/graphics, wildly different outcome. Odd to say the least.

Yesterday was the tenth air frost at -1.2C and all whilst it was depositing 14 cm of snow around my hoose:
Some lovely photos from everyone above - hope you enjoy these as much as me and the dog enjoyed running around bananas!
Percy my cockerel didn't come out of the coop all day. The hens did. What a whimp.

Damn. +0.6c here.
+0.8°C here right now and max of 2.5°C this afternoon. These measurements have satisfied me that the weather station is accurate and not recording multiple fake air frosts for sure!

Nothing at home. Not even an air frost (minimum at 0.2C). Had to drive into Edinburgh today to fix my car, and the settled snow started at West Linton and lasted all the way in and around the bypass even to the A1/East Lothian boundary. Frozen slush on the cars in Seafield even. Arthur's Seat looking very pretty, as of course are the Pentlands...

Ninth air frost at -2.1°C. Was one of those wet frosts with everything covered in ice. Slippy too. Must get new trainers.
Intriguing few days coming up. Marginal below 150m. Even below 250m maybe. But we do love a surprise and I'd put money on someone or something unexpected happening that the models miss.... As our beloved @johnholmesalways says, get the cold in place first then and only then worry about the detail of ppn.

Interesting article here about the effect on data feeding the models of far fewer flights than normal:

Fifteenth air frost at -1.2°C. Snow icy and crunchy now. Brrrrr.
Cyril our resident woodpecker is happy for nuts and the other shot last night in moonlight (not a bad phone photo!).
