1.8°C and blowing the rain around. Triple point was always away to our northwest. Maybe I'm too old skool for the weather on the telly.

Just dipping in to report an absolutely disgusting sleety/slashy/frozen rainy mix in a howling wind at 0.8°C. Nothing good will come of this.

Min of -0.7C overnight so that's the twenty eighth air frost. Grey. In Peebles at the shops earlier and there is a good covering. Still a snow line at 300m here.

Green and wet here - sleet at best at 9am, but the snowline looks to be 300m. Bit too far south for this one I think. Min of 0.8C earlier and now drizzle and 1.6C.
Some smashing photos from areas not usually snow susceptible! Marv - it's good to share

0.2C now after maxing out at 0.3C lol. Heavy rain. Tesco just delivered and the lovely lady hasn't seen any snow falling all afternoon in Lanarks/Borders at all.

Heavy rain now. Hear it on the duplex in the bathroom at -0.1C. Not a breath of wind - even eerie.

Just started here too. Tinkle tinkle as it falls into the trees and is a wee bit surreal. If I look east I can see the edge of the cloud Peebles way with the sun slowly coming up. Currently -1.1°C and with a low earlier of -3.0°C it's my twenty seventh air frost.

Met Office have me down for many hours of cold rain tomorrow. I am not holding out too much hope. Higher parts of Lanarkshire might do well.
I'm with you James in thinking we are a wee bit too west. Of course it's not over until the front arrives and the physics does its magic. I'm directly in line on a north south axis with the Forth Bridge - will be interesting to see where the dividing line falls. Reminiscent of the event 16 March 2019.
Twenty sixth air frost this morning at -3.4C.

I'll advertise.
Only thing it's going to be good for is a windscreen coated in brittle frozen slush at 07:30.

1.1°C and snowing. Suppose I might get up from my comfy chair next to the coal fire, disturb my ginger Tom kitten Mojo and have a look if it's sticking.
Oh the sacrifices...

Temp here down from 6.9 to 3.4°C in half an hour. Ooooo.

Absolutely right @Puffy MacCloud - but you forgot the added bonuses of fog shrouding high ground and the exposed base ice as slippy as cubes from the freezer to navigate. It's treacherous. Currently 3.7°C.

7 hours ago, Spindrift2017 said:The Highlandweather twitter account is mentioning quite a few personal weather stations in the area to the south-west of the Pentland Hills getting down below -15C, with Hartree House near Biggar getting down to -17.8, but the Met O is giving the overall low as -11.8 at Tulloch Bridge, east of Fort William. Not sure if there is any scope for the Met O to check and verify these temperatures. That area seems quite prone to low temperatures under certain set-ups. It would seem that there used to be some kind of official/semi-official weather station at Carnwath, as it holds a few of the annual low temperature records (including -24.6 at Carnwath on 13 January 1979).

Very interesting seeing my local area stats!
Got down to -10.5°C in my garden and the twenty fifth air frost, but we are up a steep slope so whilst the flat of the garden pools cold air tumbling down the hill, it is definitely not a traditional frost hollow like at Hartree. Still not broken freezing yet today and currently -0. 3°C. The last day of powder though for sure:
Fourteen consecutive days of lying snow and always of 5cm+.

Twenty third air frost at -6.1C. Currently -0.5C and spitting with snow. 3cm fresh deposits and because of the low temps it's stuck to everything and made it look fresh and clean. Lovely.
Edit - nothing on radar but steady light snow. Opposite of others' experience! What a weirdly weak 'cold' front.
