  1. Good spot! I would imagine the sunroof acted much like sunglasses with cloud iridescence?
  2. Indeed. I would imagine that winter will include a few cold spells, many average spells and some mild interludes too.
  3. Nice summary Jo. I particularly liked this understatement:
  4. Passed the psychological number for the first time today - 22ºC. Far too hot
  5. Edinburgh had its warmest temps so far this year at the beginning and end of April at 19ºC.
  6. It's the software - unfortunately, it is a known problem with the makers, IP Board, and hopefully the next update will fix it. Nothing anyone in nw towers can solve Rain123 - the known problem only affects posting/updating pictures into profile avatars/photos. You shouldn't be having problems uploading photos to the gallery or into posts?
  7. Thoroughly recommend a listen to the following: Peter Moore - the Weather Experiment Peter Moore's account of the quest to understand the atmosphere, from storms to creating forecasts. Read by Tim McMullan http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b05vjj7r Great historical narrative, and quite amusing at times with the exploits of those intrepid Victorians.
  8. Great to see new faces on this tour. As for the staff....
  9. 19. Imagine if the road you were driving led to that....
  10. Perhaps a closer look is worthwhile, on a reasonably sized chart showing the true picture: https://forum.netweather.tv/topic/74411-arctic-ice-data-and-stats/?p=3188035 And only when 'Ice returns to 1976 levels', not 2006 will I for one be even considering breathing a sigh of relief Keith.
  11. Perilously close to a record low for Feb a couple of days ago, looking at BFTV's graphs....
  12. First chilly evening for a while.
  13. Hi Mike New members do not gain the ability to send or receive private messages until they have posted a handful of times. This avoids previously experienced problems with spammers infiltrating innocent members' in-boxes. The only solution is to view the member in question's profile. If you hover over their photo or name, click view profile. A screen will appear similar to your own: https://forum.netweather.tv/user/11872-mikeofmacc/ The second black heading is 'contact information' and the member may have chosen to advertise a website they run or even show their email address here. If that is not the case, then unfortunately you will have to wait until the member in question has posted some more on the forum.
  14. Interesting that the GFS forecast for Tulloch Bridge is -1ºC WM.
  15. Edinburgh Uni weather station (at the King's Buildings) showing -0.1ºC. From my back yard experience, for settling snow at sea level in Leith it needs to be -0.6ºC or below... Ooooo...
  16. Indeed. Even inexperienced model watchers know that precipitation charts out more than 48 hours are unreliable and serve to prove very little. I wonder why those two were chosen as well chio.
  17. Feature north of the Great Glen pepping up - colder than forecast ahead of it. Be interested to hear what changes up there HC.
  18. Below are some NW Extra GFS 12Z 850hpa temps + precipitation charts for next week. Obviously 850s are but one indicator of the type of ppn that may or may not be falling from the sky.... Midnight Monday morning Tues 9am Midnight Weds morning Weds Noon Thurs Noon
  19. Even had fluffy white snow falling here at sea level in Leith.
