  1. That was the rain I stepped into as I came out of the office in South Manchester, it was bouncing but didn't hear any thunder ? Plenty of nice cloud formations to my North as I drove out East
  2. I suppose it all depends how you quantify the summer. Mind you I only gave it a 7 (and after 12 hours of rain today I wonder why ) Pure heat and blistering sunshine may be too much whilst trying to enjoy the outdoors ! Also, did 76 kick in late June and nothing after late August once the rains started ?
  3. After Jimmyay's comment on summer including September, I would consider summer as May to September. Long bright days of May and warm short days of September. I've rated the summer as 7/10 even here in North west England. Prompt start in May, great June, and welcome rain in July, and not cold (OK after June, July was a shock ). Another survey at the end of September would prove interesting. A fair August and warm September may even add a further 2 points !
  4. I would sum the month up by saying it's been good for the gardens (and our skin snowyowl19) plus good for discussion on the net
  5. Today has to be the worst day of July in Warrington. Sky, slate grey all day, drizzle since 1pm, heavy rain since 4:30 and it still pours. Roll on August
  6. I drove away from 'Wet Warrington' today this morning to clear the band of rain over head. Destination Southport, Arrived and couldn't see the end of the pier for drizzle. Then it got heavier, gave up at 3pm and headed home.
  7. It's now 14 days since the warm weather here in Warrington. On Sunday 11th it all fell apart Certainly an East West split today at this latitude' Milhouse'
  8. Yes it looks Manchester bound and will miss me in Warrington. Still not giving up hope, the sky looks very dark and heavy to my South west
  9. Thanks for the tip. Just caught the edge of the first / top one in the graphic, few strikes and associated thunder. Will keep my eye to the south for the next storm heading up the 'West Coast Line'
  10. And it's tracked North West. Just heard the BBC Radio Merseyside local news at 9pm who advised, 50 streets flooded and Fire Service pumping out property. Further NW, the River Douglas near Wigan has now burst it's banks. This is not yet on the Environment Agency flood pages. Not a flash of lightning too be seen and been pitch black over that way for an hour now !
  11. There have been very few butterflies here in the North West this year. Even the recent warm weather hasn't encouraged them and now it's that wet I don't expect them !
  12. Good conditions for thunderstorms and flying ants. Thanks for the updates
  13. Next 48 hours, looking at the CAPE and the experimental hail on ESTOFEX, Wednesday looks more 'volatile' for Telford, N Midlands, N. Wales and N west England. Interesting comment on the flying ants Mesoscale. Perhaps it's simply the thundery downpours disturb the nests ?
  14. I cannot see us having another snowy winter this year. Perhaps a stormy one for Dec and Jan then a late dry cold snap in Feb. It will be interesting to see what predictions we start getting as we get to late autumn
  15. I bet it will be a wild autumn with us having the depressions set up by the predicted 'above average' hurricane season. As for snow, n1russ, don't reckon we'll see much. Just wild and mild winter.
  16. That sums it up on this side of the Pennines too, Sufc, just 1C higher peak. Cloudy with the odd spot of rain from time to time, also rather breezy. The temp has been slowly dropping as it was 19c earlier and now 16c.
