Looking at GFS forecast, there are no high CAPE values and the Lifted Index are insignificant from Tuesday to Thursday.
It's not humid enough for a serious thunderstorm, well at this location anyway.
I'm also interested on the 'triple point low' and it's part it may have to play in the weather breakdown ?
Bit far out still, perhaps Sunday evening, yes 48 hrs hence, and we might be getting agreement from the other 3 and confirmation if ECM is your winner.
Looking across UKMO, ECM, GFS and NOGAPs Jackone and given the low pressure senario on all by mid-week I cannot see your 'halfway house'.
The only hope is the warm sector on these depressions falls after lunch and a brief glimpse of sun pushes the temperature up.
The Metoffice charts have the Cold front reaching the welsh coast by 12 noon yet only reaches the welsh/english border by midnight... 12 hours to cross Wales .... slow I'd say.
Yes, the best line for storms looks like starting at Crosby, through Preston, lancs; over the pennines, Darlington Co Durham and out over to Middlesborough...... signing out but certainly back later
Sorry didn't reply on the previous thread Chris .... too busy watching the weather
Anyway you've answered your own question, could be the start of something big this evening .... especially if I go and fire up the BBQ, bound to happen
Just got in from Otterspool, just on the Mersey estuary where I was watching the clouds develop. Started to rain from one, and they seem to be developing nicely over lancashire as they track in. Lancashire lass may see some serious weather shortly !
Thanks for the all the links and interesting reading.
Although the N Atlantic has been active it seems to have gone quiet further north in Iceland... just the usual background temors !
A fresh feel this morning, 15.7C in Warrington and some blue sky too. I can second the comment from John ...
So onto Warrinton rainfall. Yesterday ranfall was 18mm and today we've already had 4mm already !
Although the thunder has passed into Lancashire, there are plenty of black clouds heading towards the Irish Sea out of the Cheshire Gap.
Blackpool should get some 'static illuminations' this evening
Good to see the long range winter forecast. At least you guys have a crack at it, unlike the MetO. I read the forum comments before the forecast which made it more interesting. Anyway, like the sound of a dry winter here in the west
This certainly caught my eye...... And it's the Eye of the Hurricane that made me think, surely with it's core raising the sea levels it actually has a negative downward force / negative net weight. Only the outer clouds have the rain bearing volume we could quantify ?
Quite possible, Manchester Airport dew point fell rapidly after lunch today from 10C to 6C in 2 hours as the front moved south. It's now down to 5Cso not much change.
