Here in the North West the black low clouds and sporadic intense rain is certainly inspiring me for the week ahead, Check out the radar for that band of rain currently running from Warrington J21 M6 right up into Lancashire.
-
Looks like the worst missed me and the heavy rain tracked over Widnes, destination next, St Helens

Careful now, don't mis-quote them so early .... there is a big 'OR' in their first sentence and there is 'potential ' ! Heavy showers or thunderstorms are likely on Thursday with the potential for some heavy rainfall in places.

Thanks for you feedback Summer Blizzard To be honest I didn't think there would be much left to TS Debby now. I'll certainly leave the fluid dynamics / 'baroclinicity' to the computer modelling though ! -

Certainly the models are showing plenty of rainfall next week and isn't some originating from TS Debby ? 'Cloud 10' - I'm not convinced on the GFS for wednesday storm potential. There is certainly CAPE and lift, showing both in Wed / Thursday but not to any great extent ........ Yet. I'll watch this space ..as they say ! -

Also, do agree White Fox, the Atlantic depressions are more northerly but the spanish plumes may show their hand ! -

Slightly further ahead Milhouse (192hrs) and GFS and ECM show signs of depressions forming around Spain and pushing north. Modelling more humid weather for us .... perhaps -
Estofex looks good Backtrack. Looking at the rain and CAPE on GFS it's 'High Noon' Tomorrow in the Mersey Valley for Static !

And pictures of tonights event if the water has subsided on the webcam http://www.thescore.ie/belfast-flooding-pictures-flash-floods-502363-Jun2012/

Just been around the webcams of Belfast taking in the weather This one http://www.trafficwa...treams/cam6.wvx currently looks like slipways into the watercourse , rather that access to the flooded road ! Many roads are probably water courses now so take care there in northern Ireland

That's why the Environment Agency measurement at Ewood on the Darwen has ceased then ...... water in the electronics of the gauge perhaps ?
-
That's not good since the High Tide is around 2am on the Lancashire / Cumbrian coast so it will meet the incoming water too. Luckily today's rain in south Manchester / North Cheshire is escaping down river at low tide. I noted that the Manchester ship canal is being used to sluice excess from the Bollin and Mersey too !
-
The cloud rolled into Warrington around 8pm and the temperature has tumbled. I've just been pulling in the windows to conserve the warmth - such a contrast within the hour - unreal !

I agree with sprite on this. The am transmission may get interference fro the static just as it leaves the antenna, it bounces off the ionosphere and we receive it 'crackles and all' at the distance of the radio skip ! If you have a MW am radio that tunes between 1620 and 1680 listen there for static as some pirate stations in the Netherlands use less than 100 watts and are subject to more noticeable static Listen to the latest download in this link http://www.am-forum.nl/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=18345 some of you may be surprised how popular AM is becoming again !

GFS seems out on its own at 96hrs though. UKMO and NOGAPS still holding out until 144 hrs before showing HP taking a hold ! -
Costa Rica had a magnitude 5.1 ( value to be confirmed) earthquake at 13:54 UTC ..... seems busy on that coast !

Good point on the Tropical storms - Buzzit. GFS for North America or Northern Hemisphere hasn't got Tropical Storm Bret with it's depression of 1000mB on todays charts so how can it factor this let alone the 'potential storms' into it's future North Atlantic predictions ? -

Now we are half way through July I think we'll have to keep an eye on tropical formations off the East coast of Florida and the northern Gulf of Mexico, There's a 20% chance of one developing into a storm right now of the Florida coast which could have a bearing on the North Atlantic Models in a week ! -
The visible Montagnola webcam for Etna is out of action now and again ? It looks like ash on the lens (or shield) obscuring the view when it's operational !
-
Couldn't access Icelandic sites so was looking at the webcams in Italy. There seems to be renewed activity from Etna. On the Montagnola thermal image there is intense white image 100's of metres into the air and their volcanic tremor sensors registering it nicely. Check out Link , for Etna , webcams or volcanic tremor !

Nothing in Warrington, North Cheshire but blue skies overhead. The views to the horizon do show something in store if your in the following locations;- Dark storm clouds to the North over Lancashire, Dark to the West over South Merseyside, Plus a nice anvil formation to my East out over West Manchester, Enjoy !

The Australian quake was at 10km but if there are further large tremors it will be worth noting the depth .... and if they are nearer the surface. Reading about their history, those Australian volcanoes are well over due for eruption !
