  1. Ah right. Well, if there is a drier winter predicted, then it's likely that there will probably be a bit more blocking in the Atlantic. I can imagine more outbreaks from Northerly and Easterly winds. Which of course give colder, and with an Easterly (especially on the eastern seaboard), snowier weather.
  2. No offense, but do you actually think that there A: will be NO snow? B: That there is only one forecast out there?
  3. I am at 11.2dgC at my local station, I think 9dgC is accurate.
  4. I always find this weird. I put the heating on when we're cool in our house. And vice versa. It's usually on more in the winter, but we could have it on for a while on any day of the year, July or January!
  5. 8.5DgC and horrendously overcast.
  6. Temperature is STUCK on 9.9 Degrees Celsius, it's been at that mark since 21:28! 74% humidity and very chilly out there, despite maximum cloud cover...
  7. Heavy snow right throughout Lapland today, good covering in Pajala, Sweden and Rovaniemi, Finland aswell.
  8. Currently snowing in Rovaniemi, Finland. Pajala, Sweden, large snow depth there! Looks like the Sweden-Finland border has had a pasting recently.
  9. Forecasts giving heavy snow throughout Finland; first scandi build-up?
  10. Here in Durham, around half of the trees are red or orange, however, you can see the green ones slowly turning.
  11. COMPLETELY off-topic, but what does SACRA mean?
  12. Haha, of course! Excellent read. World War II to now! Interesting to see 1962-63 not as snowy as I though, and 2009-10 the third snowiest!
  13. Thanks, this is a keeper. Really good read; will you be updating it every winter? Hope you do!
  14. While all of you are having a mini Indian Summer, here in Durham, it's been murky, damp and overcast. Low cloud and not a single break in it all day, max 14.9dgC, currently 14.1dgC
  15. Good to see that the SW gets good snowfall. Well, at least last year. Although at 290m ASL, you would be pretty miffed if you didn't get high totals of snow! Aye, the snow line. Causes havoc wherever you are. Lucky me here in Durham, right next to the pennines, and perfectly placed for the snow showers we got from the North Sea last winter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Temperatures go up - Global Warming Temperatures go down - Ice Age Temperatures move around. They'll do that you know.
  16. I knew that I may buy a snowmobile, not for the snow, just to be cool!
  17. I'll give you £2000 for that. Snow joke.
  18. Hehe. How did you fare last winter? BTW, new name, not Nu Design, now it's Isolated Frost, wintry theme name from now on.
  19. There's Statistics and then there's Statistics. 3 Cold Winters in a row? It looks like it, with negative NAO, and a decreasing Gulf Stream, but surely not 3 winters in a row. For me, we are in the same situation as last winter, apart from El Nino and La Nina, La Nina normally gives slightly milder winters than usual, but we don't know what'll happen when it reacts with a -NAO, which has been negative for a whole year now! Despite all this, there's one thing that decides winter for me. One Battle. Atlantic vs. Arctic & European winds. Are you 'lukesluckybunch' on Met Monkey? Anyway, do you care to tell us why you have predicted such a cold winter?
  20. Ever so dreary... 13.9dgC, 97% RH.
  21. Oooo... now it starts. For me, winter is in full flow right now. These boards are going to be full as we get up to Halloween and Bonfire Night!
  22. Hehe. If that were true; we'd have Siberian winters with blizzards and large drifts every year! Anyway, looking at the GFS, snowfall could be recorded very soon, and a large drop in temperatures before Halloween!
