  1. 5am top, 8am middle, 11am bottom- you don't wanna know how much comes after 11 (!)... The band looks like intensifying as it moves across for the next few hours- it should start affecting the central belt and much of eastern Scotland during the rush hour, and into western Scotland during the morning. SS/CMD, have fun !!
  2. North Yorks... prepare yourself!! Big snow totals coming across inland and higher ground areas there, possibly 15-25cms coming up- I expect all of Yorkshire and North Lincs to see light/mod snow for at least a 4-6 hour period, the further north and east, the snowier. York is surprising to hear rain and sleet- it's turning a lot heavier there over the next few hrs, so hopefully that turns to heavy snow.
  3. Band still to arrive, still the remnants of convection going on. Damn, it's really pepping up and pivoting around NE Yorkshire, this is going to be strong!!
  4. The longer sea fetch and modification- The hi-res ECM (which has been spot on recently since I discovered it and subsequently fell in love with!) for 3am (for those braving the night):
  5. I'm using the European 15 minute one on NW.. shows perfectly the curve from Leeuwarden and how that should hammer us tonight.
  6. It should start as rain/sleet for most away from high ground or 25 miles of the coast , turning to snow gradually.
  7. Dew point still below -1c here. This has been an intriguing cold spell with weak blocking signals to the north (though such signals do exist) and an Atlantic that is crashing into southern Britain and France instead of Iberia and North Africa- lots of wintry events and high snow quantities without the deep cold. Fun spell to watch and definitely better than anything the last 2 years have produced for the NE.
  8. Sleet melts my snow, I'm not having that imposter try and be cute with me.
  9. No chance. Snow or rain. Simple as that. And remember, sleet is rain, no matter what they say.
  10. I think you'll get 5cm by the morning and easily more afterwards Alza. Band making steady inroads whilst pivoting now... into North Yorkshire.
  11. Thundersnow in Hull. 1.4c/-1.5c with some quite heavy snow here.
  12. NMM has a strong trough like feature hovering around us from 5pm to 3am on Mon-Tues, this after the heavy precip throughout Monday morning. This could be very snowy in parts, extremely so- whilst it could also be VERY wet around the coastline.
  13. Same here, 1.4c/-1.3c just 10-15 miles north of you- which is encouraging. Light precip may be the killer in the early hours, so if this falls as all snow, it's all fun tomorrow.
  14. 1.3c/-1.4c, dew point dropping in this heavy snow shr. I'm 49m (164ft) and about 7-8 miles from the coast as the crow flies.
  15. Thicknesses- Sc sheet will have been formed by a streak of weaker upper humidity values. -Instability (sea temps and upper temps) -Fetch (track) -Wind Shear (less the better) -Humidity -Vorticity are the most important Tonight none of that matters, just the radar, lamp-posts and some drinks
