  1. Yes High Pressure is certainly looking like only lasting a few days before it pushes N/W over Greenland, Bringing a Northerly flow of types.. Wet/Cool and unsettled seems to be the theme for Mid-Month from the GFS & ECMWF.
  2. Evidence left at the crime scene is abundant and global: Fossil remains show that sometime around 252 million years ago, about 90 percent of all species on Earth were suddenly wiped out — by far the largest of this planet’s five known mass extinctions. But pinpointing the culprit has been difficult, and controversial. Now, a team of NAI-funded researchers at MIT may have found enough evidence to convict the guilty parties — but you’ll need a microscope to see the killers. https://astrobiology.nasa.gov/articles/2014/4/9/microbial-innovation-causes-the-end-permian-extinction/

  12. WESTERN SUNSPOTS: Sunspot AR2051 has a 'delta-class' magnetic field that harbors energy for strong X-class solar flares. The sunspot is not directly facing Earth, which mitigates its threat. However, it is moving to a location that is in some ways even more dangerous than the Earth-facing center of the solar disk. http://www.spaceweather.com/
