  1. Wait untill it hit's Birmingham it's looking like the front will bump into the cold air, stall then pivot S/W
  2. It's all down to now casting and radar's from now on. Good luck amending your forcast JH EDIT: And lamp post watching.
  3. Looking at the latest chart's the front is going to slowly edge south with it slowing and stalling a little as it reaches the spine of the country. Then pivoting over the East Midlands befor heading off S/W. There could be some very notable snow as it bumps into the Pennines this evening and overnight. Freezing rain is very rare in this country so it will be interesting where this falls and to what effect. Once again it's all down to the Radar from now on, a very interesting 24hrs on the cards.
  4. Isn't it a shame the video is such poor quality.... as per usual. I would like to think they still exist, even if they are only part crossed or hold some of the same characteristics of the mammouth. And if it was infact a sighting, why on earth did'nt they follow it and track it's path and take more photo's and vids. If that was me holding the camera i would never want to lose sight of the thing !
  5. http://www.theatlantic.com/infocus/2012/02/deep-freeze-spreads-across-europe/100239/ Some amazing photo's, realy captures how cold it is over there.
  6. I can remember veiwing this through a welding mask, It's something i will never forget. It made me think how small and insignificant we realy are, and that we can not control the patterns in nature.
  7. I think JH probably highlights his many years of working for/and professional input with the met office as they are few and far between, so for newbies and the thousands that read these forums it means his comment does not get brushed under the carpet. And can be taken seriously. But at the same time it's good to have a laugh and a joke.
  8. Well, for the handfull that were writing winter off yesterday and crying Zonal....... We still have 85% Snow cover here, it's very cold outside and Temps expected to drop to -15 in some parts over the next few days. As i stated yesterday, the trend is there for Northern Blocking and it seems far more likely to come into fruitation after looking at todays run's. Winter so far has been pretty much bang on what was forcast, let's see what happens with the next 3/4 weeks of what's left of winter. Nothing Zonal thats for shure, and dont forget early March can usualy throw some nice surprises our way especialy with all that record deep cold thats built up in the East.
  9. UK drivers are warned about the snow, ice and the inevitable Imperial assault on their rebel base.
  10. Winter is here in my part of the world, around 12cm fell overnight. There are very strong signals in the models for blocking to take hold over Greenland as updated by GP and stressed by JH in the MOD thread. Anyone writing winter off now must be barmy. The Models Trends & Signals have never looked as good for a long time for Cold and Snow! EDIT- JH commented last night that the models are looking very much in line with 1947. He could of been drunk tho, as he was hitting the red wine.
  11. Hopefully on Saturday night the gritters & snowplough's will be as neat as this !
  12. Yes it was quite something. I was stuck up on a roof about a mile or so from there when that blew in....
  13. Due to weather conditions once again it spoilt the show, it's looking like being a lot clearer tonight so fingers crossed !
  14. Thanks for the update's. So there is a possibility of catching an araura tonight but it's slim.....?
  15. This is very tempting http://wilfrededmunds.reader.travel/subcat.php?d=0&c=19&s=45
  16. Hi George WX. Are we in for a chance again tonight to see the Northern Light's ? I was not aware of the activity on the 22nd so sadly missed out on sightings, although i did stop up late last night ( 2am ) i missed out again due to poor weather conditions. Thanks PM.
  17. "However, if that is the case, then how can one possibly model the decision that the butterfly makes when it flaps its wings in that rain forrest which sets the whole process of a Huricane birth into motion? Can we get inside that butterfli'e brain? If we could, who makes the decission to start flapping and when?" I realy do think that your argument lies in the question of consciousness. Which is still a mystery to this day. Patterns are found throughout nature. We follow patterns as a race in all aspects of society in an attempt to predict how our future will turn out. Religion ties into this in many ways. As does economics. We are OF Nature. Nature goes through cycles so inevitably so must we. 1.) "Mathematics is the language of nature,...everything around us can be represented and understood through numbers,...if you graph the numbers of any system patterns emerge,...therefore there are patterns everywhere in nature." 2.) "If you want to find the number 216 in the world you will be able to find it everywhere, 216 steps from your street corner to your front door, 216 seconds you spend riding on the elevator. When your mind becomes obsessed with anything you will filter everything else out and find that thing everywhere."
  18. Hi Village. What do you mean by "Real Enviroment" ? Thanks.
  19. Totaly agree. What an amazing man! By the way, i agree with his views on women.“They are,†he said “a complete mystery.†http://www.guardian....omplete-mystery
  20. Im going for a walk with the mutt up Stanage Edge in a while, it will be interesting to say the least. The strong winds here have died down now, Still quite breezy here with the odd 30/35/mph gust's. I think the bufferting effect around these areas make a big diffrence.
