  1. So this is happening on Friday 29th (this friday) not 12th August, Its not very clearly written. Any how, should be a good show given the current dry and clear conditions.
  2. AO - The Arctic Oscillation NAO - The North Atlantic Oscillation PNA - The Pacific North American Oscillation EPO - The Eastern Pacific Oscillation WPO - The Western Pacific Oscillation MJO - The Madden-Julian Oscillation PDO - The Pacific Decadal Oscillation NPO - The North Pacific Oscillation AAO - The Antarctic Oscillation QBO - The Quasi-biennial Oscillation All of these teleconnections, plus MANY more that are minor or are simply NOT yet known, are pebbles and rocks dropping into the fluid atmosphere. Each one has positive, neutral, and negative phases, and each one impacts the atmosphere via waves rippling outward from their regions of origin. Hope this helps John.
  3. Some nice shots there, thanks for posting. The weather is certainly more exiting in your part of the world at the moment, i would'nt want to be out in that hail OWCH!!
  4. http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/63512-el-nino-and-la-nina-how-they-effect-the-north-atlantic-and-the-uk/ There was a thread here discussing La Nina and El Nino, but the topic has been locked. May be worth opening a new one
  5. Ive seen 8 butterflies this year.... Lots of moths about at the moment in the evenings. Can anyone explain the lack of butterflies for me? I find it quite worrying Apart from the awfull weather today
  6. When they realised they were wrong, instead of them changing it to Climate Cooling and looking realy stupid... They opted for Climate Change. Which to me is even more bizarre, as the Climate has and it always changing, And we will never be able to control it. TEITS may be onto something there regarding the summer forecast, this winters going to be an interesting one IF there's a pattern to follow...
  7. The sky's has turned very dark here in the Peak District, with deep rumbles in the distant. Its looking promising on the radar......
  8. I think what Rob is trying to say is that winter always brings out the best and more detailed posts from the experienced, and during the summer months we dont. But to be honest looking at the pattern we seem to be locked into at the moment, there's not much to say realy.....
  9. I know its Atacama desert in South America and not the Sahara, but it shure does look more interesting at the moment than the Uk http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-14067245
  10. There is "real evidence" as to why the the term "Shades of 1976" was used. GP backs up all his lrf's with "real evidence" and its all there layed out for you in his lrf. And if the evidence changes then so does the lrf, thats how they work. Its not just a case of "I think..........
  11. The Forcast could of gone either way, Its a long range forcast and with having a dry winter and spring i think it was fair to say "Shades Of 1976" and we was on a knife edge of haveing drought conditions that would of been very simular to 1976. It's just a shame the folks dont praise GP when he gets it right, which is more often than not. I take it you dont understand how lrf's work then. lrf's do change and are updated from time to time, thats normal.
  12. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2008437/UFOs-filmed-BBC-building-London.html?ito=feeds-newsxml Some footage of a UFO over london today.
  13. I do agree with 4WD, There has been thousands of crop circles over the years, and have got more complicated and exotic with time. Which makes them more questionable, and with so many accuring there has never been a sighting of a UFO landing. I think the problem here is that some people want to believe there's something out there (as much as i do) but there is no evidence whatsoever, only word of mouth or internet forums it just does'nt stand. People have admitted to makeing them in the past, and have even shown us how they do it and very clever to, i have to say it's just a form of "Modern Art" at the farmers expence. I have heard of some farmers charging a fee to allow the sceptics to take a closer look, so at least they are cashing in from it to compensate the damaged crop's.
  14. In my opinion, its all down to nowcasting from here on. The warnings are out there, and will change nearer the time. These storms could crop up anwhere, exiting 48 hrs ahead ! Good luck everyone.
  15. http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/06/25/3253544.htm?section=justin Looks like his health is going downhill due to eating sand thinking its snow. Surely they can keep it somewhere, as its obvious it's not going to survive in that climate
  16. Looks like someones tried to throw him a stick..... I watched a program last year, when i bunch of scientist were trying to find out why the odd one took off on his own path, away from the group. Even when they picked them up and took them back, they just went off on there own again. They never came to a conclusion... maybe they just need some space lol
  17. Thanks for posting Mr Data, As i was reading through this, I was imagining what it must have been like to experience such cold/dry conditions. There must of been so many lives lost, No double glazeing or central heating back then! It must of been terrible to live through. Talking about mini ice age's, lets hope we dont start getting winters like this one !
  18. Some nice footage there, I hope nobody sufers from epileptic fits watching this
  19. I think he was just making people aware of it
  20. I saw all of 10 seconds of it, which didnt even give me enough time to focus on it
  21. Well the skys are starting to clear here, but ive found this live webcam of the eclipse http://www.youtube.com/google#p/u
