  1. Just been out to clear the car and put my windscreen cover on before the big freeze overnight. It was coming down steady and sticking to the car as fast as I could clear it.
  2. Just started again here within the last minute or so. Glad I went on my walk when I did.
  3. Even on the border there was only about 3cm extra this morning
  4. It has stopped here now. Off out for a walk and to take some pics.
  5. A quick note to all the cold lovers, please spare a thought for the people without central heating who can't afford to heat their homes. I'm currently sitting in my living room, huddled around a halogen heater and it's 8.5C. I woke up to 6.3C in my bedroom this morning. When a cold spell lasts a few days the indoor temperature drops gradually each day. I can even see my breath indoors today. The reason I come on this forum is to pray in hope that each of these cold model runs never come to fruition. So the best outcome for me is to see lots of toys being hurled out of prams So please bear in mind that when things don't go to plan, it's not all bad.
  6. ARCTIC FREEZE ALERT: Britain braced for SNOW as temperatures plunge to -10C http://www.express.co.uk/news/weather/760797/arctic-freeze-alert-Britain-braced-snow-temperature-plunge-minus-ten-degrees
  7. UK WEATHER ALERT: Britain to be smashed by SIBERIAN MEGA FREEZE to last until MARCH http://www.express.co.uk/news/weather/756922/UK-long-range-weather-forecast-2017-cold-freeze
  8. Definitely need some sunshine. Struggling to get my washing dry before it starts to go mouldy
  9. The cold doesn't kill mosquitos. Try a summer vacation in Alaska.
  10. I don't, as I don't have central heating. not very nice waking up to a 6C bedroom and bathroom.
  11. My living room is currently 17C. The heating doesn't go on until it hits at least 14C indoors overnight
  12. There's a huge half a centimetre here in N Shropshire and barely snowing
  13. If you have a greenhouse or conservatory, they are great for drying washing in. Especially on days like today.
  14. Thank God it's thawing here. I hope it's all gone by tomorrow morning. If not, it will turn my 7 min walk from car to work into 15 mins.
  15. As much as I enjoy your posts, Ian. Please could you increase your font size as I struggle to read your posts with my bad eyesight?
  16. Really looking forward to a couple of days of 11C highs this week. Will give me chance to get the house back up to temperature.
  17. Light snow here in North Shropshire which is struggling to stick. So glad this turned out to be a non event. The last thing I wanted to be wasting the morning doing was shovelling snow.
  18. Looks like North of Shrewsbury is going to miss out. Thank god for that. I hate shovelling snow.
  19. I heat my living room to 18C, the hallway and kitchen to 13C and take the bedroom up to around 16C before bed and then switch off. I never used to bother heating in the morning but having just been laid off I now just stay in my bedroom until midday watching telly, then workout in my cool living room in the afternoons (which is great because I sweat like crazy).
  20. I hope that didn't turn out to be an expensive mistake? Did he charge a callout fee?
  21. Yesterday felt really cold (had my heating on properly for the first time) until it warmed up overnight. Feeling mild again now the early morning temp has risen to 10C. Long may the mild continue.
  22. If this mild weather continued for the whole winter, interspersed with one or two sunnier colder spells I'd be very pleased indeed.
  23. Was -2C by me. Car was covered and was really hard to scrape. A quick drive 3 miles down the lanes and no frost at all. I get canned from work at the end of the month so I'm hoping I can make it to then without another frost. Nothing worse that scaping the car windscreen at 6am on a Monday morning
