  1. I don't think anyone is sitting in temps of 12C all evening, I know I certainly don't. I post the temps encountered on returning home from work at the end of the day and on waking after a frosty night.
  2. A chilly one this morning: hallway 10.7C, bedroom 11C and living room 12.2C. It doesn't look like it will hit much more than 5C all day either if this mist stays
  3. I saw a billboard cloth hanging in trees at the side of the M6 in Birmingham this morning. Apparently, a friend also had a roof tile dislodged and ended up falling through his car windscreen.
  4. Arrived home this evening and the living room was 11.5C, kitchen 10.5C and bedroom 10.7C. Hopefully temps shouldn't drop so low tomorrow if there' a few hours of sun.
  5. At 6am this morning with the heating switched off since 10pm: Living room 12.2C, hallway 11.5C and bedroom 12.5C
  6. You need to buy some of those shutters they use on the continent for your bedroom. When those are shut it's like being at the bottom of a Chilean mine shaft
  7. Yep, the responses in that article make no sense at all. Surely the author of the article picked up on this while writing the piece?
  8. I've been looking for one of these too. Most weather stations I've looked at seem to use software that is only compatible with windows. Does any one know of one that works with mac OSX?
  9. I find it more depressing when it's dark at 4pm.
  10. Not sure about in Leicestershire but in my neck of the woods, in Edgmond, Shropshire, on 10 January 1982, the English lowest temperature weather record was broken (and is kept to this day): −26.1 °C (−15.0 °F). I remember that cold spell well. It was bloody freezing.
  11. I woke up at 4am and my bedroom was down to 11.5C. Still toasty under my thick quilt though.
  12. Indeed, I spent 10 hours on my roof this summer re-pointing all my ridge tiles. I must have brought down about 5 bucket loads of old broken mortar that had broken and rolled down the roof..
  13. The whole house had dropped to 12.5C this morning apart from a spare bedroom where I keep the door shut which is currently 10.3C.
  14. This morning my bedroom was down to 12.5C and one of the other bedrooms down to 11.5C. My living room only dropped to 13.7C but had had sun for most of the day.
  15. They've al gone off to hibernate around here. I haven't seen any now for a couple of weeks.
  16. As long as I get my twice daily fix of Shefali Oza on Midlands Today I'm not too fussed.
  17. In my conservatory, works great even in winter. It only needs a little sun and they dry in no time.
  18. I've had the heat pump on in my living room but no other heating throughout the house and I haven't even thought about lighting the stove yet. I haven't felt the need to yet.
  19. Ah, the good old days when everyone made an effort to get in to work no matter how bad conditions were, and schools across the country didn't close at the sight of a few falling flakes.
  20. My bedroom went down to 13C for the last couple of nights so I decided to add an extra quilt ready for winter. Big mistake, I woke up at 3am swelteringly hot. I'll be removing it again and waiting until the bedroom is getting down below 12C
  21. Joe was spot on. He said most of the UK and Ireland would be cold but not AS cold as mainland Europe and that's exactly what happened.
  22. Just woke up and it's 13.9C outside and 15.4 in my living room and 14.5C in the rest of the house.
  23. I really hope he's wrong. I don't think I could stand another winter like last year.
  24. The entire house was 14C this morning when I woke up at 7am
