  2. So this records both max and min temps and can you leave it overnight to record min temps and be able to see the recorded temperature in the morning?
  3. I'm looking to get a maximum and minimum thermometers for the winter and I'd like to know: - Which one is the best - The cheapest - Does it require a Stevenson Screen - How to use and set it - Any other details
  4. http://www.exactaweather.com/UK_Long_Range_Forecast.html Update from James Madden. If your looking for the best of the snow and cold well head to the North and East between November and December as his forecast has great emphasis of winter weather in the north and east.
  5. Between 228 and 264 hours there is a brief cold spell with -5c in parts in the north. A long way out though. http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=nwdc;sess=
  6. Just imagine a really flat bit of UARS came in at an angle and hit the sea at 200mph. You would have the world record of skipping stones.
  7. My prediction is: 1. UARS altitude will start to decrease over South America/Atlantic. It won't have enough time to hit the UK 2. It will decrease on the next run and start to burn up and it will be too far away for any concern over here. 3. It will eventually land over Scotland sometime during the next 24 hours!!
  8. I think the next pass will be the last one for Scotland. After that, England is more at risk of debris.
  9. So we've got two more attemps before we are safe. Has anyone got the latest altitude and any more predictions?
  10. Do you expect it to be at a lower altitude at that stage? Also what happen after that - are we still not safe?
  11. Too cloudy So what next and what will the next orbit be like? Has the UK escaped the worst of it?
  12. I think it has dropped nearly 40km in Altitude recently. Come on UARS don't land over here!!!
  13. I think UARS is starting to drop altitude. Just in time to attack the UK
  14. The altitude isn't going down!!!!!! This is going to be one long night. If this thing does fall I would be interested in: - UARS to hit the Big Brother Building - To harm the Queen which would lead to tensions between the UK and US plus complaints about NASA - To damage the home of important Russian Politicians.
  15. What damage could the debris do? If that was debris, it must have been quite small. It will be more interesting the next time it comes round and I think we will have a clearer picture.
  16. I thought I saw some flashes in the sky myself and I just thought it was my eyes playing tricks.
  17. I just posted the video for interest. As far as I'm concerned the thing is still intact at a high altitude. I'll be going outside in a while to see the remote possibilty of it passing over.
  18. To be honest, I would rather have warm weather in April rather than October. It's brighter in April and your leaving winter behind and looking forward to summer so I believe it's nicer to have that type of winter. Yes it would be pleasant to have sunny weather in October, however I would rather have crisp, fresh sunny days with frosty mornings. I don't associate October with heat because the leaves are plants aren't in full bloom unlike April. However it's early October and I would accept this type of weather in September. With the harvest period here, perhaps it may be quite nice to see warm weather howver I believe the trees and the surroundings wouldn't suit over 20c temps. However sunshine and 16c would do fine for October with a cool, crisp and frosty end to the month.
  19. How long after it starts to drop closer to the earth will UARS crash to earth as I would like to predict which time would be suitable for it to start falling and for us to sleep safe tonight.
  20. When do you think we will get the first indications that it's entering the atmosphere. Then after that when how long would it take for it too reach the earth. I know it's highly unlikely for an object the size of a fridge to hit one particular house in a particular part of the world, however there is a remote possibility of it happening. Hopefully, the angle of its landing will mean that it will hit a tree or something before it reaches any home. However, it could be pointless as it's likely not to fall in the UK.
