Laughable!

I do love your optimism Alan, snow was bang on for Saturday (no show), then Sunday night, then Monday and now for the rest of the week! Just saw the BBC predictions, the big band of snow that was supposed to pitch up overnight now fizzles big time before ven getting to the Midlands and Monday looks wet :-O Who knows what is going to happen but I am not going to hold my breath :-(

The Winter emotions and moaning thread

They are not hiding anything ....... just clueless again. Not just the MetO but all predictions are chopping and changing!! We were predicted snow tomorrow, now in the last few hours its changed to rain/sleet. Now we are less than 24hrs away from that prediction and they cannot produce a proper forecast :-)- 1,075 replies

Winter 2012/13 Pt 4... Expectations, Hopes And Wishes...
> mark replied to Methuselah's topic in Spring Weather Discussion
I'm so sorry Paul ....... last October I purchased spare wheels and winter tyres after 2009/2010 & 2010/2011 and we know how little snow we had in 2011/2012. I sold the wheels/tyres in April! Fast forward to now, just changed my stock summer tyres to all-season tyres ....... oh and I'll be spending some time near Christmas in Buntingford :-0 Sorry! Mark -

Just got back from Cliveden house near Beaconsfield, Bucks ...... Got back in the car at the right time. It was lashing down, hail mixed in, good bangs and flashes. Roads were like rivers through Wooburn Green and Bourne End. Now very grey/dark to the East and clear to the West! More please :-)

The downside to all of this "excitement" ....... very powerful stuff. I was called once to a report of a tree on fire in Chesham (Bucks) many years ago. We rolled up in attendance and this very large tree had been totally snapped by the lightning and indeed was still on fire! Awesome power!! -

Agreed - I'm literally "just down the road" and feel the same. Last what I'd call decent storm was probably around 2004/2005 perhaps when I was in Bucks Fire. We were called out to lightning strikes on the Met Line in Lt. Chalfont (Tube train smoking :-) and then to multiple strikes over in Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross (as their pump "died" in the floods) and even over the border into London. trouble is that I was driving the appliance and couldn't watch much of it :-( One day .... fingers crossed. -

AM = MW :-) Very calm sky here, a blanket of cloud and nothing "bubbling". -

There were a few spots of rain earlier and the air/breeze feels fresher than earlier today when it was very humid. Not really expecting anything at all in South Bucks, again :-) -
East Anglia & The South East Regional Discussion - Part 2

It's been a very wet and windy night near Marlow, Bucks. Still this morning it continues, it is howling outside and the rain is being driven hard against the windows The garden has numerous large pots blown over and judging by my mobile phone battery status, it stopped charging about five hours ago, yep power cut time. Called Scottish and Southern and their automated service simply said due to the weather there has been wide spread damage in many areas. Normally they give an area affected and an ETA for fix. This message is very general so I think many different areas are suffering :-( -

Very Nice ...... got maybe a cm if lucky but just not getting the large flakes. However it is starting to stick to the road so if it does kick off it should be good. -

Light snow in Marlow, Bucks ...... seems to be slowing as well. I think we are caught in that trough with heavier snow to my W (Oxon) and to the E! :-( -

One way of shifting the UK stockpile of snow shovels and salt! :-) -
Spot on polarlow ...... I have been following the model threads for several weeks now and it never ceases to amaze me. The METO can never really give a reliable forecast beyond 24-48hrs let alone t+<insert whatever you think looks snowy>. Believe me, I wish the amateur forecasters were spot on ...... I'm sure my winter tyres are melting day by day!!!

Missed so many potential storms this year. However got lucky this evening. Drove down to just West of St Valery Sur Somme today and for the last hour or so we have been treated to a magnificent display of intra cloud and cloud to ground ...... very very nice indeed and I hope it hops the channel for you guys as its a goodun :-) Mark
