  1. Every time I go up the hills to photograph the sunset, it clouds over. Grrr.

Anyone got any tips on how to photograph birds? I saw a few Kestrels, but they were in hunting mode, and therefore hovering. My pictures turned out blurry.

You need to be using a fast shutter speed. Is it an automatic or SLR? I can't remember what you said you had.

  2. Lol dont get me started on UFO's , its not an unidentified flying object as im not certain whatever this is is flying!! Lol cant even see anything,,,, i thought it wasa really powerful, odd rumbles of thunder lol, is the only way to describe it,but it definately isnt, more jet likebut like being underneath a jet going over head that frighten you to death lol, used to that as i used to live near an RAF base but this isnt the same.

Sorry for going off topic though, still subject of noise in the sky, but not the weather lol...reason i asked is cause pip lives in the same town and maybe Lancashire Lass might of heard something being in Preston?

I heard something earlier this afternoon. Really loud rumbling it was.

  3. Latest METO Forecast for NW England:

'Sleet and snow showers will extend from the northwest on Saturday and last through Saturday night into Sunday morning. These are likely to lead to widespread ice developing on untreated surfaces. In addition some 2-5cm of snow is likely to accumulate locally away from immediate north and west facing coastal fringes.'

  4. all i am going to say reference weekend is expect some surprises and i dont mean Scotland

there is high chance of back edge snow of the front coming south that will introduce the colder air

personally would not pay to much intrest in the GFS and NAE PPN charts, probably be a case of now cast

    C.S

Yep, same here, no reason to be downbeat. Expect surprises. Radar and lampost watching.

  5. Latest 18z GFS run brings the cold slightly earlier with uppers of -6 and dam of 528 over the NW by Saturday lunchtime. By midnight on Saturday uppers of -8 are over the NW, by 3am uppers of -9 over the region and by 6am uppers of -10. So a potentially interesting 36 hours for the the NW I feel.

    Anyway here's Matt Hugo's thoughts:
