    Heavy Graupal / hail here in Washy at the min but sky gone dark.

    Spoke too soon...drip...drip...drip.... Going to take a few hours off the radar and weather until this afternoon, looks good for later perhaps.

    Well did a bit work and then checked the radar and as Doctor says showers pepping up nicely again. May take an hour or so to reach us on the east coast but still lots to play for. Strange as it's not really melting here either - still a good couple CM down and remained that way for now. Edit: can see a fair number of radar returns are showing sleet but as is the case in these setups nowcasting is needed to confirm the conditions on the ground.

    Looking at XC Weather I can't see a northerly wind direction setting up? The winds which steer the showers onto land remains E/NE erly throughout today.

    So how will Boro and the south of the region do in that? I didn't think they did well in a Northerly? I can do well in one but prefer NE / E

    I know mainly for the north of the region at the moment (missing me) but nice to see some this morning. NS looks quiet for Wearside and Durham once these pass through but as we know the NS can easily spark more showers. Dropped another 1+cm in that lat shower so happy. Now to get some work done! Is the wind direction supposed to change again? Blue skies beginning to show now @Summer Sun - you can stop the sun-dance now it's worked lol

    All falling as snow here. Coast must be marginal then but thunder and lightning is good to see / hear too so a little added bonus. Nothing behind this so unless it gets going soon it'll be dry crisp and sunny.

    it was last night or did you not believe me lol Nah last night there were elements of 8/10 but mainly 5/7 out of 10. Fingers crossed though! More lightning and thunder now.

    There's loads of instability in the NS behind these showers. The question is whether they fall as snow or sleet.

    Keeping an eye on this beefy shower (red dot is my postcode) - be good to see who sees sleet near the coast

    I saw the back edge of that shower as it passed near me. Really good stormy clouds this morning. More income too.

    2cm ish here in this part of Washington from last night / overnight so bang on with the Meto predictions. The North Sea has come to life it's smoking! Fingers crossed it stays as snow though.

    4/10 starting again. Edit: 7/10 again but after this not much else showing for me for now (or at least looks that way)

    It makes sense as I'm hitting lucky at the minute due to the winds steering them. Looking good for a lot of areas on the radar now it'll just take some time to get them onshore.

    Looks to me as if the winds changed now as the showers are hitting me more from a NE angle now Boro members look at the radar now I don't think you'll be far off now.
