  1. A fantastic and well explained post - thank you for sharing this I really enjoyed it. I don't think I've ever wished Xmas to be here as quick, as much I have this year!
  2. Can't really argue against that to be fair lol but sometimes all we have are those straws. Lately though it seems we see stonker charts etc but when it comes to it nothing appears to materialise. Something about this year though that appears different with the synoptics showing later on so who knows. Fingers crossed that we get to see some RD's this year!
  3. It is the model discussion thread though RD so patterns or actual weather; if it's related that's the point surely? I see many people posting about whats actually happening on the ground so to speak but a lot of people do find the pattern side of things interesting and you can learn a lot from looking at the bigger picture. Edit: This isn't a dig or anything just thought I'd say I find it interesting overall.
  4. So you're going for a full blown beast? what time scales are you working on here? Genuine question as I thought (currently) there's no real support for a full blown easterly?
  5. I agree that in our neck of the woods (UK & Ireland) mild tends to win out, however the northern hemispheric pattern and the block slowly strengthening to our east would suggest the usual trends are being pushed further back... But anything could happen as it stands today.
  6. From 80 to over 190 NW members viewing this thread within the space of 15 minutes...you know it's gotta be good :-))))
  7. Can you feel the lottery numbers for me while you're at it? No hurry just somewhere between Xmas and New year.
  8. Would you say inland gusts of that though? They always say this but when it comes to it it's never usually as bad come the day (thankfully).
  9. The warnings are already out Iceaxe - perhaps some areas will get an upgraded warning though...
  10. And there we have it. I don't know of many people who check the weather warnings when on holiday. She probably thought she was ok where she was etc or simply didn't know. But in any case there's some heartless comments about today. It's not as if she was out swimming in the open sea etc and putting emergency services at risk. She's now dead at the bottom of a cliff in a caravan what an awful way to die. And yet some on here feel it's ok to say they have zero sympathy. Well it speaks more about what type of person they are than this poor woman. Seriously ground my gears this afternoon.
  11. Not being funny but does anyone know why this woman was in the caravan etc. Regardless if she didn't listen to the warnings someone has still lost their life. Have some decorum instead of being so bloody heartless. She may have no family she may have had mobility issues etc or she may not have taken the warnings seriously. But either way it's distasteful a couple of these comments and I don't care who roasts me for this post.
  12. Tasty little storm overhead now. Backbuilt right over my house
  13. Frequent lightning and thunder now and what a wind that's picked up proper gusting.
  14. Anyone near that York storm it looks a right little beast?
  15. Storm incoming directly over me from the south. Near constant cracks and rumbles now but not seen the lightning yet. Will try and get a video if it's decent. EDIT: Cell in the NE near Sunderland has exploded rapidly - near constant thunder now.
  16. Mini cell directly to the south - Sferics showing very little but thunder heard.
  17. Suns back out in the great north east - humidity rocketing now again after this mornings storms. Fingers crossed this afternoon looks great for a large part of the UK.
  18. Much appreciated thank you for that. The thunder is becoming more constant now so fingers crossed it passes quickly and then the real heating can begin!
  19. Can someone a tad more knowledgeable answer this: I am happy to see some storms on the way this morning and can hear them rumbling away to the south of me as I type. However the sky has gone really grey and temp has dropped. Will this have some effect on the forecast storm development later this afternoon? I'd hate to think that it'll stay grey and cloudy all day now or the scud doesn't clear and then affect the chances later?
  20. Something definitely erupted to my south can hear near constant low rumbles.
  21. Gone quite dark and can hear rumbles in the distance but not sure where from? Lovely clouds this morning though! EDIT: Deep rolling thunder now heard to my south and east. Shows how humid it is my Bordeaux is melting with it so had to improvise with a cold towel lol
