Not too bad here in Newcastle to be honest sounds like a nightmare up there guys stay safe! Not sure if the winds are likely to strengthen here this afternoon will wait and see, hopefully not!

Pouring with rain here now....gusty winds looks really stormy outside.

Wind picking up now, I am at work just west of Newcastle and it's definately becoming more gusty. I wonder how strong the wind will become in these parts. Seems like some impressive wind gusts further north and west so far for May anyway!

Sky is almost black above Gateshead now and the clouds seem to be moving in a different direction to the top looks very strange. No thunder or rain but very still,,,,

I am now in Felling (Gateshead) and looking east towards the coast the sky is very dark, the clouds have moved further inland but don't appear to be producing any lightning so far... Is the wind forecast to switch direction?

Hi, Been a while since I posted but thought I would check in..... I hear a few people mentioning (as the post above) the storm risk from Essex to Yorkshire, but the Northeast of England and also parts of Southern Scotland are highlighted in the Thunderstorm watch for UKASF.... I am confused can someone help me out and let me know if the Northeast i.e Tyne and Wear and Northumberland are actually included in the watch? Cheers -
