  1. yeah I have been watching those showers intensify as they head into the northeast. How frequent is the thunder?
  2. Someone on null has posted that "based on current patterns this winter looks like being less cold than the previous two maybe slightly above average". Not sure myself as I can't read the patterns but food for thought that's for sure!
  3. Do you think we should be careful not to turn this thread in to a NE rampers thread Is the front of that rainband becoming electrified or am I looking at old strikes?
  4. lol aye it seems Thor is holidaying in the great northeast this summer. Looks like some more showers are pepping up around the Darlington area now...
  5. Forecast For NE England Note The Rainband: Headline: Thundery heavy showers. Bright spells. This Evening and Tonight: Bright at first this evening with a few showers. Cloud will quickly increase with heavier band of showers spreading northeastwards overnight, possibly with thunder. Showers clearing for a time, then further showers later. Brisk southerly winds developing. Minimum temperature 10 °C. Thursday: Bright with sunny spells and a scattering of showers. Showers locally very heavy and thundery. Generally light or moderate southerly winds. Maximum temperature 18 °C. Updated: 1459 on Wed 6 Jul 2011 Looking good up here for a change this year. We have certainly had our fair share, it would be nice to see more places including down south seeing some thundery spells though, I feel their frustration!
  6. Cheers for the explaination. I am actually hoping that this year isn't as bad in terms of snowfall. I am speaking from an IMBY perspective really but there were around 9 days of convective snowfall here, thunder and lightning and by the end of it I was miserable lol Cabin fever set in when the council couldn't keep up with the volume of falling snow. Anyway, despite what I want I have a feeling that this winter will have some surprises in store and we could well see a below average winter again, with some significant snowfall. No reason behind it, but I feel that the weather has changed somewhat in the winter months and also feel that low solar activity MUST plat some part in our climate. I am born and bred northeast and can't ever remember 3 consecutive winters where snowfall has been as significant and temps have been as low. Maybe selective memory only time will tell!
  7. Alza Matey, where is this second storm you say is "brewing" to the south I only have raintoday radar presently at work!
  8. The UK is the WHOLE of the UK not just the south and east. If you are going to post things like "it's a fairly decent summer so far" don't be surprised to see people north of London disagreeing with you. You're obssession with dropping Younger Dryas in to most of your posts is wearing thin now als, I don't know him niether am I interested unless he is posting on here. I for one am just wanting facts about what is happening in the UK and not just the SE. You complain about people saying it's cold wet blah blah blah and yet all you do is bang on about the SE and how wonderful the summer is. This is the model output discussion not the SE regional thread so as far as I am concerned your posts are just as tiresome as others who constantly moan about the disapointing sunmmer. Sorry mods but I am getting really hacked off with hearing about people who don't even post on here. I know I don't contribute much to the model output but I come here regularly to keep up to date not listen to the above poster moaning about Younger Dryas!
  9. 1 in 7? How does that explain the last 3? Not saying there's an ice age coming because I don't believe that but the winters have gotten worse and something has changed with the patterns. Either way where do they pluck the 1 in 7 from? Does that mean that 6 in 7 winters will be relatively mild?
  10. Cheers for tyhe heads up TWS. What's your thoughts on tonight. There seems to be some pretty good convective showers popping up all over but they are forecast to start dying down soon aren't they?
  11. lol Yeah I usually end up watching youtube clips of storms from over there and think "I need to move" but I am determined to get on this next year and intend to enjoy every minute of it!
  12. Aye, looks like Tyneside is heading in to a dry slot now, not sure what the forecast is for this evening though..
  13. Tell me about it Paul. I am surprised as my area seems to do poor (compared to others) but this year I have had or heard 4 separate thunderstorms. Quite a turn around really, but nothing like the list at the bottom of your profile! It is my main objective to storm chase in the states next year I am almost saved up!!
  14. Yes same here, hail shower has turned to torrential rain now. It's gone really cold under the shower mind! Be nice to hear a rumble or two but I am not holding out today. There was only a slight chance anyway. EDIT: I work over the West End and there have been some amazing cloudscapes today over the Teams area that I could see looking south and west. Shame they never really amounted to much!
  15. Here's a couple of pics from the shower moving in. Heavy hail falling now and quite strong down draft but no thunder heard yet!
  16. Right, good luck to you all down there, I am off to bed as have a busy day in Cheshire tomorrow! Hope you all get something good.
  17. Is that the one where he said "tomorrow there will be thundery showers for Essex, Kent and erm Essex" as he was pointing to EA?
  18. yes TWS it would have been better to see a great lightning display but after all I only seen around 3-4 flashes. Still enjoyed it and yes the coast can miss out but you have been lucky so far! Lets just hope there's plenty more storms to come!!
  19. Come on GS loud thunder and hail is good too. I would rather hear / see that than nothing at all! lol There still is potential the main risk for the south is over night tonight isn't it??
  20. Its not anaprop it passed us and intensified as it left shore lol typical!!
  21. Look at that storm in the North sea just of the coast! Some intense rainfall there!
