  1. A couple of hours on the Downs overlooking Eastbourne this afternoon and the fun began trying to get up Butts Lane as it was thick sheet ice! 4x4's just made it but there were only two of them at the top car park. Lots of fun watching people in lesser cars trying to gain traction and then turn around again!

View from the top when I finally slipped up the access road was obscured by freezing fog, but the snow is still 10cm deep min:

Great photos - thanks. I havent seen a view like this in a while, really gives a sense of things to the east :-)
  2. i've not seen snow like this now here since Feb 2009, this is a joy to behold, starting to settle on the pavements now ...wooo-hoo just hope it lasts a little longer

Where were you last winter when the 20cm of light fluffy snow came down in Brighton ? Maybe its snowing a lot harder over in Mile Oak than here, still a dusting I would say, roads and pavements not covered
  3. Actually i'd rate this on the same scale as the weekend so far, but could become better than it if it continues and sticks on grass and pavements, stuck on some things though.

Dont like to say it but here near Fiveways Brighton its looking a bit sleety now. Not sticking to the roads or pavements, very wet, tops of cars have a dusting - it actually feels like its a bit "warmer" than earlier - just been out to let the snow fall on me!!
  4. The radar is suggesting this area is barely moving at the moment, perhaps slight motion to just west of south (185 degrees or so)

Very much a nowcast event...I'm not fully expecting much of the SE to get 1-3cms...

Do you mean its coming down north to south and you DO think the whole area will get 1-3cms? METO have heavy snow warnings out, yet reports seem to be for some heavy but not as much as radar showing it seems? I am definately confused tonight :acute:
  5. OK if you look at the radar, you can ignore the blue's they are not delivery anything, but look for green and yellows and that is where the action is, as you would expect, so at this exact moment just ignore the blues or if you are looking the light pinks are irrelevant today, just focus on darker colours, standard really but it seems to be how its working out.

I.e. where the heavy echo is, that is the snow - for those having radar issues this evening.

    thank you :sorry:
  6. I don't understand ...how can you get ''False'' radar readings ? does the ppn simply evaporate or something ?? last weekend I was too far West by about 1 mile, and too close to sea level by about 20 metres :-( and now it would appear im too far South. and too far East, I hate living here, what a big fat pile of plop !!!!

here's the view outside my balcony window earlier :-( so close and yet soooooo far :-(SUNP0046.jpg

I dont understand because the METO have changed the symbols across our region in the last 1/2 hour and shows heavy snow from 9pm then light from midnight?!
