  1. No its pants lol,but to be honest i wasnt expecting snow anyway, after last saturday i am never getting excited about snow until i see it falling from the sky as it can change where and when its going to fall at the drop of a hat :drinks:

I wasnt either Marie - now seeing the pink on the radar just North of us I am wondering whether to stay in and watch the radar as it "looks" like its on its way??? and as BrightInBrighton says, its coming from a cold place this time
  2. i wonder what the chances are of this front slipping a little further south and east, than is currently predicted....

I wonder if it is going the other way - west and southwest ? :-)

Who to believe, rampers, weather forecasters, random models.......

All I know it's damn cold!

:clapping: I would agree with that - the main message loud and clear is COLD :-)
  3. Latest weather BBC weather forecast - central southern England and SW snow on Friday. London Eastwards will stay dry :-(

Such a shame - with all this cold air in place I for one would of wanted another snow event!

Last Saturday was good but with one snow event of the year it's not enough.

Living in south Herts I usually see more snow days then we have seen this year - be it in form of wintry showers - flurrys etc.

Been under some remarkably cold air with amazing uppers but only one snow day :-(

Even the Balkans and northern Italy look set to get another dumping tomorrow!

NW is giving you moderate snow at midnight tomorrow - light snow down here by the coast
  4. no sign of wintery weather in the latest METO 6-15day

UK Outlook for Monday 13 Feb 2012 to Wednesday 22 Feb 2012:

A cloudy, murky but less cold start, with some stubborn fog patches as well as outbreaks of rain. However, brighter but windier conditions look set to become quickly established across the UK, with blustery wintry showers, particularly across northern and eastern areas. Towards the end of the week southern and more especially, southwestern areas look set to be fairly settled and largely dry, with wetter and more unsettled weather largely affecting the north of the UK. As February progresses these more unsettled conditions look likely to become dominant across the UK, with the risk of some very windy days. However, it could take some time for the far south to turn more unsettled, the best of any drier conditions here, but also a higher risk of overnight frosts.

  5. I am lucky enough to live a couple of miles inland and up a hill in Brighton, it seems to make all the difference as we have had continuous snow since it started about 7.15 (albeit mostltly light) but it has got pretty heavy in the last hour or 2 so we have about an inch now but you can hear it melt whilst it settles.

Brighton is very localised this time - I am around 2 miles north on a hill near Fiveways and it didnt really snow properly until about an hour ago, but I looked the the bus website and the stopped services around 11pm - Patcham, Withdean, Westdene, Moolscoomb, Coldean all nearly impassible - my lampost is at the front of the house and I am at the back - keep putting my arm out the window to see what falls, its now little grains and changing all the time. Only the heaviest prec on radar is falling as snow - I have a feeling the melt might continue as temp look like they are rising a bit

  6. Perhaps not as far West as your location, unfortunately, but that's when the cold pool is tapped into and dragged West. If it's vigorous enough, precipitation in your area will turn back to snow; it may now be too wet to settle, now ... still going for a punt of lying snow on Hasting's beach, though ...

thanks for your response, it doesnt "feel" like it will happen to me, but if as you say cold air is pulled in, it might do. Just looked at the local paper blog and people 2 miles north of me in Brighton have had small accumulations - certainly a very localised thing here, so things could change, the winds are getting stronger at the moment.

Hastings - I think snow is def more likely there:-)

  7. sure is! I love the weekends in Brighton but not sure the timing is great this time round - watching the sleet drive in from the sea is a little frustrating knowing at home with a bit of altitude I'd be sharpening the crampons ready for the freeze up tomorrow. Mind you, the pier here is much better thanthe one at home..

Anyone Shoreham, Worthing way? What's happening where you are? Hoping the second wave will bring back the snow.

    AS

keep watching :-) the pier and beach are fantastic in the snow - I am north Brighton now and higher up - its still very fine sleet
  8. Yet again Brighton get's suckered by the dumb ass English Channel -( God dammit !! :-( so close and yet AGAIN ..so far , I expect just to rub salt into the wound, I'll be seeing loads of cars going along the A27 with 10 foot of snow on the roof...BAAA HUMBUG :-(

I really do think it could change, a heavier section of the front is on its way and it might turn to snow - its definately on the edge of it - although DP and temp are still rising METO is still saying heavy snow from midnight to 6am! ??
