Hopefully, although we always seem to have near misses to the point where it's hard to believe we'll ever have a direct hit again.Saw some terrific fork lightning SE of here about half an hour or so ago. Absolutely brilliant to see it light up the night sky. I assume the other Chesterfield folk are complaining we haven't had a direct hit yet, but the night is young and you only had to look out the window earlier to see a good taster of what's to come over the next 36 hours

Cheers and I will, good luck everyone!Aye good luck mate, under normal circumstances i would much rather be down here in cornwall! But right now id much rather be back home waiting for a storm! Keep us updated and good luck to everybody else for some night time action.
-
Pretty much, yeah. We got more than we usually get though, so I'll take it, and there's still all night and tomorrow to hope for something.Did it follow the path of the M1? Thats what usually seems to happen
-
Of course, the storm missed us ever so slightly. Still, I saw lightning and thunder, but I'm sure all of the people from Chesterfield in this thread are sick of being teased like this.
-
Deep, booming thunder here now.
-
I can hear thunder now. I bet it misses me by two miles though...
-
Looks like the big one may be coming this way after all, since I do live four miles east of Chesterfield... Fingers crossed!
-
If I somehow get nothing out of either of these two cells I'll be slightly annoyed!
-
That looks fantastic for here, but we'll have to wait and see...NAE 12z accumulation charts show some very heavy rain across the spine of England i.e West, South, North Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire etc, but it's changing a lot from run to run.
-
A possible supercell in September 2006 or so. I seem to remember it dropping a tornado in my area, with quite a few trees falling on fences next door. There was constant lightning and torrential rain too.
Maybe we'll see one like it again.

A maximum temperature of 30°C was reached here today, with us now sitting at 28°C. If only the cell that originated near Sheffield had been a few miles further west and this would have been the perfect day. Still, there's still time for something to fire up, and I'm not complaining about this weather.
-
A very unexpected 30°C here today. This is the highest temperature for at least five years!
-
It's currently 19.7°C and cloudy.
-
A nice high of 27.1°C was reached here today with constant sunshine. It's still 26.5°C as well.
-
A lovely 27.1°C was reached here today, with constant sunshine and barely a cloud in the sky. It's currently 26.7°C and I'm waiting for it to cool off a little so I can take the dog for a walk.
However, it does look like it'll be a little cooler here tomorrow, with temperatures only reaching around 25°C. I'm not complaining though!
-
The roads here look very dangerous. Also, it's snowing yet again here.
-
Well, it looks like another snowy twelve or so hours here. This has been an amazing event.
-
The snow has all but stopped now, it'd be nice to get more overnight but it'll likely melt tomorrow anyway, and we've done well enough with around 10cm. Good luck to those who are still searching for snow!

If you have a look at the radar there is some intensification taking place well south and particularly south south east and its moving north. Whether it will effect us remains to be seen. To be honest I haven't seen anything that convinces me today that heavy stuff will spread in from the Irish Sea.. to me if we are to get heavier snow it has to come from south of us as it has done all day. Interesting to see what happens though
We have done well today whatever happens overnight
Agreed, we've probably fared the best out of all the towns that aren't on high ground.
-
I'm sorry to be 'that guy', but when is this supposed to be intensifying? I've heard a few different times mentioned.
-
more boring here than anywhere else as we haven't had any real snow yet!
Well, perhaps I am being a little greedy.
-
This light to moderate stuff is boring, hopefully intensification will begin shortly.
-
SP the heavy snow has just arrived... hady hill chesterfield.. should be good for awhile again
Very heavy here in Inkersall as well. The roads are covered again, finally.
-
There are bands of heavy snow over many north midlands area but no widespread organised precipitation as yet!! the next 3 hours radar watching could be the key to the size of this event.
Another heavier spell of snow is just approaching our area again pushing up from the SSE with more to follow. Also bands of precipitation from a front pushing northeast out of Wales
Something of interest taking place in southwest England, not sure whether this will come in to the mix overnight
Has there been any snowfall of a notable sensitivity in the last hour for you? The radar suggests that the precipitation is heavy yet only light snow is falling here.

Could it be that the cluster near Bristol is linking with the cluster in the East Midlands? If so I'll be in for a hell of a light show!
